So just having the CDMA radio going while in a call is enough to heat the phone off and trip the charging circuit. Going hogwild with data and killing the battery is one thing, but not being able to carry on a long call just blows my mind.
It shuts down after two hours, is that because that's when it ran out of power? Did it get significantly hotter after like an hour, or was it always hot through almost the whole two hours?

Longest I've talked on mine is only like 30 minutes or so when plugged in charging, and it continued to charge, when I was done, it had actually charged up a little bit (about 10% more than when I started the call). It got very warm, warmer than my Vogue Touch got, but not painfully hot.

Man, I'm tempted to exchange it for a new one at Best Buy, but I'm afraid I'll get one that's worse.

I guess I'll wait a week and if there's no improvement in battery life, I'll take my chances with an exchange.

I have noticed with my Pro, that even though the signal strength shows weaker than it did with my Mogul, I have far fewer dropped calls with the Pro. Big bonus there for me, though I still think I am gonna call Sprint about an Airrave soon.

Set it on it's side propped up against something so there is airspace behind the back of the phone (or turn it over) and it will work fine (well, if you are using a bluetooth headset). Otherwise try and not have your hand in direct contact with it. It will stay significantly cooler if you allow breathing room on the back of the device.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Is there anyway I can do a benchmark test and compare it to one of your guys to see if I should exchange it or not? I feel like my battery dies too quickly. I get about down to 40% after a day of very little use.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Oh I understand that giving it airflow will help... I wasn't using my headset at the time. I was actually laying in bed with it laying on my ear (I can't really use it with my hands on it at home, the signal is kind of weak there) Regardless, its a phone that gets too hot and stops charging. There isn't an excuse for that major flaw, and the end user shouldn't have to jump through hoops and supply additional cooling to use the phone this way. There isn't anybody here that can sufficiently justify this oversight. Yes, the phone is hella cool, but some people are blindly looking past the glaring defects over the cool factor. This is a really serious issue for me and as much as I don't want to I may find I have to return the phone and go back to my Mogul. I am sure with time more and more people will eventually come across this issue themselves.

I am considering bringing it back to Best Buy for exchange, just to rule out the possibility that mine could be just defective. I have a feeling they all will work this way though. I will report back later if I get a replacement and it is better than what I have now. This one is just unusable like this.

I've found that's not truely done, just close to done. Leave it charging all night so it fully charges. I've found my phone reports it's full after only a couple hours charging, and I get horrible life. If I leave it on charge all night, I get much better life out of it.

I see now. That makes more sense.

As far as the problem you present that's not at all normal. To test this I turned wifi and bluetooth on. Then I made a half an hour call, used wifi to stream youtube videos and kept trying to look for bluetooth devices. I also loaded windows live search and used the gps tracking option. All in all 40 minutes and the battery continued to charge. It even jumped 20% when i was doing all that. Granted it got pretty warm, but it never stopped charging.

Maybe it's only limited to just making calls for such extended periods of time. What's the mah of your charger? Because it could be your charger is not able to keep up with the power draw. Also were you charging it using your computer. There's an option under power settings to disallow TP from charging when connected to computer. Also, are you sure your radio turned off because of the heat or was it because the battery was drained?

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I've also had the same charging issue that Krayziepop has been having. But when I do anything else (WiFi, GPS, etc) my tp has no problems keeping up the charge. I pretty much believe what saqer assumes in that this problem only occurs when the radio is being used constantly for phone calls only. Most likely the radio just consumes more power than the charger can put back but it sucks because I've never had a ppc that did this. I hope htc can tweak the radio software somehow to where this issue can possibly be addressed in a future rom update. I wonder if critical has any news on this issue.

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat

yeah, my mogul got hotter and had more heat issues than the TP
i think the metal shell actually acts as a heatsink. so, it gets warm on the outside to keep the innards from cooking.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

My experience after a week of using the Touch Pro is that the battery life is shorter than the Mogul's. I have already purchased a new charger base with an extra battery and slot. But I really like the phone. Getting accustomed to getting around on it and am digging it.

My battery hates 100%

So...I go to sleep and put my phone on the charger (A/C charger from Mogul), and after a minimum of 7 hours, I wake up and pull my phone off of the charger. Every night now within 2 minutes my battery percentage drops to 92%. I've had it unplugged for an hour now and it's down to 85%. Is there any way to actually cap off my battery power? Is this normal? It's just kind of annoying to know I'm losing 8% of battery power every day.
