Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!
I'm averaging about 15 hours with just using GPSTool to shut down the service when not in use. I'm sure it will go up in time, because I am not tinkering with it as much.
-Active Sync Push: As Arrive (80-100 emails a day) -Wifi: Off -GPS: Off when not in use -Battery Hack: Configured with Advanced tool (honestly I do not think any of the battery hacks do anything.) -Phone/GPS/Data usage maybe 40min-1 hours a day. |

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.
I am having the problem with the battery getting hot and not charging. This is a major inconvenience for me because I use the phone while at work to listen to internet radio and I am usually busy doing something when the phone dies and don't have time to mess around with the phone (I am a machinist and there is a lot of iron dust floating around so I have to keep the phone covered or at least in the case and maybe this is causing some of the heat issues but it acts the same way even while I'm not at work, I could start another topic about all the phones I have messed up in various ways at work).
I am convinced I have a defective phone not just because of the battery issues but because of a whole list of other issues I am having. I think the touch pro is a great phone but it doesn't work properly for the main function I bought it for. Hopefully it is just defective and I can get one that isn't defective. |

Re: TP recharges after a full charge
I've experimented a little more, and I've found that this issue only occurs when the phone itself is on while charging. If I turn the phone off and charge, the LED is solid (fully charged) when I wake up in the morning. If I leave it on, I assume it gets to a full charge, stops charging, the phone drains some of the battery because it's on, and it has to charge again.
Do you guys find the same problem? I feel like I'm the only one.. I've tried sliding out the keyboard and putting it face down to vent the heat, but I don't think it has helped. |

Re: TP recharges after a full charge
That is normal. AFAIK, when the unit is charging the device is in power state D2 (Standby) when it completes charging the unit drops into power state D3 (sleep mode). Once the processor halts in sleep mode, and the unit quits charging, there is no hardware event to wake it up until the low battery event. So If you leave it on the charger, after it is charged, it will slowly discharge (<10-13 ma draw) until you wake it up. Once it wakes up, it will begin charging. This is normal for WinMo (and has been since the windows CE days).
I seriously doubt that there are charging heat issues. (My battery NEVER goes above 32C while charging). If you suspect that try my Battery Logging diagnostics. (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=44272) It will not let the unit drop to Power State D3, but it does drop to low power standby. (13-15ma Draw) The other advantage is you can see what activities during your normal usage cause the largest drain on your battery. |

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.
while I understand the heating problem when your using the phone alot, which I hate. But for some reason by boyfriend TP over heated while in his pocket, I find this very odd being that it wasnt on the charger, nor on a call.
Im glad it wasnt me, I probably woulda lost my mind when I felt that heat in my pocket.....lol |

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.
While I have not experienced the not charging issue, I really doubt that it is battery temperature that is the issue. If the unit is in use, the charger just cant keep up. the OEM charger provides 900ma. Unfortunately, I have found that under a number of varied circumstances, the unit draws more than 1A of power (4W) there is no way that the charger can keep up under those conditions and even worse with USB or typical AC-USB Chargers where you only get 0.5A current.
I believe the problem lies in an inefficient radio rom (read bugs...) I have written a small utility to log the battery usage (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=44272) Give it a try and see what your max battery temp gets to. From what I have been told if it stays below 35C it should not stop charging. Also from the logs, you can correlate phone usage to battery consumption. I would like to get some of the data to see if it correlates to what I am seeing on my unit. |

Actually, I am holding a Diamond charger in my hand right now, and it's 1A as well. |

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.
My Charger is 1A as well. However under a number of conditions, the Touch Pro draws more than 1A from the Battery which would yield a net drain even if connected to the charger.
