Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

One thing that gets annoying is the bubble messages/ notification. Like if you have the alarm go off, you have to hit the top, it gives you the notification to choose, you then hit the alarm, the alarm bubble then comes out, and from there you can tell it to be dismissed. A little annoying, I'm sure it can be tweaked. Also, the T9 could use some help. I would love it if someone in a ROM release had it go back to the old way like the Moguls had it so it didn't slow down my typing or substitute my words for a wrong one.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

i cant believe people dont like this phone, i wouldnt go back to my mogul for anything. now you've got to trust me i loved my mogul, dealt with no ram, i hated all the buttons. like someone already said 3 ok buttons is insane. i could actually deal with only a dpad no talk/end, home/back. i like this dpad it looks better and its not that difficult to get used to. my only complaint if i were to have one, would be the battery cover. difficult to take off, feels like you're going to break it. i do have one question does anyone know if the auto-backlight sensor sucks more battery than it would save? the fact its on all the time "sensing".

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

I have a diamond right now and am so close to switching to the Pro

Can anyone who did this switch confirm that it's not that big of a deal? Mostly I don't want to carry around a giant brick. Does it still fit in your pocket nicely, without looking like a creeper with a huge bulge in your pants? Does it look almost as nice? the diamond is very good looking and feels solid.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

my only complaint is the lack of hardware buttons, but i knew i was getting into that before i bought the phone, so i can't really complain. the keyboard will take some getting used to, but that's just my lack of familiarity with it.

I don't own a Touch Pro, but my mogul is (I believe) thicker then the touch pro... People over estimated the thickness of the Touch pro... According to reviews from the GSM version, they said it looks thick when looking at it in general, but the phone feels great in the hand.

I put the mogul into my pocket often, and it's not really a huge deal for me. I got used to it fast and didn't become a hassle.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

well as its been said if the lack of buttons is one of the biggest complaints, then its one pretty good device if thats all that can be said.

I just dont get the big "button" issue, is it that much more of a detriment to tap start and click IE? Or tap the top left of the screen to get the windows menu instead of the key? I just dont get the HUGE issue mogul users make it to be. I have everything in my start menu, one click away, that you had on the mogul hard buttons (IE, camera, Comm manager, etc). Less buttons=less mechanical pieces to break too.

Youll all survive the extra screen tap or 2 for all the benifits you get out of this device in terms of screen and hardware, i promise

"I got the TP this morning and so far today I have mixed feelings. They added more than I could ever ask for when it comes to the upgrade from my mogul, and then took away more than I could have feared.

We needed more memory, but 288mb was overshoot, for WM6.1 we only needed 144mb or somewhere in-between (all that extra RAM is burning power as we speak).

I admit, a higher resolution was needed. But, while qvga was too low, vga is too high! Applications such as googlemaps, which are now required to fill four times more pixels, wind up studdering when trying to scroll. But at least this I understand, there really is nothing between qvga and vga; so this I don't mind too much, just rewrite googlemaps to pixel double or something and everyone will be happy.

But also important is what the designers took away.

While the mogul had too many LEDs, the TP has none! No indicators whatsoever to notify you of a missed call, voicemail, or e-mail. Or so it seems since there are white LEDs around the Dpad, but they are not given as an option (so this might be fixable).

While the mogul had too many buttons, more than anyone could have thought useful, the TP has no buttons to spare whatsoever. And the buttons it does have are often the wrong ones (though I hear they will be customizable by the right app)."

My feelings exactly. I've decided to stick with the Mogul, and keep ordering replacements as needed, until the right thing comes along. Enjoy your phones, folks. Maybe I'll see you on the forum for the next great thing (or back in the Mogul forum from time to time, or here out of curiousity), but for now, I don't see this as a net gain. I don't think I'd take a TP in an even trade at this point, since I don't want to have to start dealing with patches and fixes all over again. I've have them all done for almost a year on the Mogul, and every time I need a replacement unit, I just restore my backup, and I'm good to go. It was fun and challenging going through it once, I just don't want to do it again, though.
VGA apps take more ram, you will find that 128ish would be nowhere near enough. Look at your free ram now and it's usually ~130ish. The RAM uses a VERY negligible amount of battery I'm sure as well.

VGA may be a little high, but it is much appreciated, especially for remote desktop (no scrolling around!). The screen is unbelievable. I notice no lag scrolling around. Videos play unbelievably smoother too (due to video drivers I imagine), including slingbox and such.

There is a simple regedit to allow the flash light option to be checked too, and it will flash the dpad for missed calls/etc.

As for 'my feelings exactly' I'm not sure how you can say that when you've never owned one and probably never used one.

It's definitely thinner than the mogul, and quite a bit smaller all around. There is no massive border around the screen anymore. It feels much nicer and smaller in the hand. My mogul fit perfectly in my side pocket in my jeans, and this one is so much smaller that I'm almost afraid it will fall out when I sit down.

Agreed, touchflo3d makes things pretty easy and quick to get to as well. The hard buttons I am finding are unnecessary and I am getting used to not having them.

The only buttons I miss are the soft key buttons. Sometimes apps go into fullscreen and expect you to press a softkey to exit out of this mode. Haven't run into any major problems because of this though, but I wish there was a way (maybe there is something I am missing?).

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

I upgraded from a Mogul and there's no way I'm going back.
Yes, I miss the hardware buttons, but we'll eventually get a program to remap ALL the keys to work how we want. You can already reprogram some of them with PQzII. http://nicque.com/PQz/
The d-pad took some getting used to, but if you press it right, it's not so bad. Press just outside of the circle.

The screen is amazing. The higher resolution is amazing. More memory, much more responsive, browsing is fast as hell now, videos play better... sound quality is better (headphones). Sure, a few apps look ugly, but you can't blame the TP for that. Any VGA phone would have the same issue with QVGA apps. The flush screen is a lot better, it makes it easier to hit stuff on the edges of the screen. I did stop putting it in my pocket now though, I switched to the case it comes with.
You'd have to be nuts to wanna go back to the slow *** Mogul over missing hardware keys. Besides, you get used to it fairly quickly. The keyboard layout is slightly different, so you typo a lot, but again, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

And you don't HAVE to use TouchFlo3D. It can be disabled.

For those wondering, the Mogul is thicker and larger overall than the Touch Pro. But the TP seems to be a tad heavier to me. Not a big deal though.
