They pretty much all do. It's a huge part of google's revenue and their main goal for creating android. They want to control the advertisements on your phone :)

lol well thats total crap. i wouldn't be mad if we got a discount for having the ads or something but these are just forced on us. crap! it's like television, we pay for service which broadcasts us ads every 15mins. lol but i'll save my ranting for another thread.

anyhow back on topic, my battery is all over the place. one minute it says 85% then 5% then 35%. no real stability here.

phone is pretty warm. not really doing anything with it. went online and downloaded the weather channel app and received 1 text and 1 email and it's warm. i think i'll let it die to see how long it takes now.

OK. a few notes have filtered in:

Power collapse isn't working. That would explain the crazy fast battery drain.
ADB seems to be broken on my end. Not sure anyone around here cares.

...you want a discount on the free app that someone programmed for the free OS that google gave you?

OK, yeah, I do too. :-)

But I've only seen the ads in free 3rd party apps. I don't like 'em, but I also don't want to buy the full versions of those apps. Nor do I want to learn how to program my own. So I put up with them for now. And hope for more free open source ports to Android.

And though they're google ads, that AdMob stuff is not google's reason for supporting/developing android. They want to control your data -- I doubt pushing ads at you on a slow connection and a tiny screen is really their goal. They want you fully tied into their ecosystem on every device you own (and try to make that a good experience) so that when you do see an ad, they make sure it's one of theirs.

I'm finding the same thing. MrPippy has been trying to make the data channel more stable, but it's still in a pretty raw state. His experience was that when he turned off cdma data and just used wifi, he couldn't even get it to crash. I haven't been that lucky, but I do think the majority of my crashes at this point are cdma data, too.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - ALPHA (buggy. as. hell.)

interesting, i am experiencing no crashes from data, or from anything else at this point. but i am going to have to reset back to wm. the phone is cooking right now and it's just sitting idle. but i would absolutely love this if i was out snowboarding. i usually have to pay for a good handwarmer :D

lol and i don't mean we should get a discount on free stuff. but if i had paid full price for an android phone, say a nexus 1, only to find out that the apps have ads on them, i would be upset. obviously with our build i'm not upset as it came free to us thanks to the many great minds working on this. lol i haven't played quite enough to notice if the ads are on free software or everywhere in general.

and i completely agree that i would much rather have a small ad than have to pay for the software. and if that is the case, i don't mind these small ads what so ever.

Umm... Android is given away free on that phone as well.

That's a true statement... and a semantic minefield.

Question: I now have a Google Wave account, how can I find the HTC Wave?

Don't have the exact link but you can search for the title "Android on HTC Windows Mobile Phones (Diamond, Raphael, Blackstone, Rhodium, Topaz) "
