Tethering - tested and works

1 - using file explorer go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs - delete internect connection sharing

2 install - ICS_and_WModem_Fix cab

3. using a regedit program

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

[HKLM\Services\CMGuardian]
Flags = 4 (it's a DWORD Value. if it doesn't exist. you need to create it)

4 - soft reset
5 - Start the Internet Sharing application.
6 - Select Sprint under type of connection.
7 - Hit Connect In the Internet Sharing application.
8 - Connect to the Laptop/PC via USB
9 - Done. No other applications needs to run on the PC/Laptop.
I keep getting an 'access denied' whenever I try to implement the changes listed above. I can get to the device but I cannot save any changes. Any suggestions?

Thx

Boo Boo,
This was the only thing that I could get to work for my tethering on my Stock Sprint TP2 rom.

I first tried this: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=78019
Installed the cab, and did soft reset.
I was still getting error 67, from using both the quick link from the USB2PC menu that pops up when you plug in the cable as well as when I went to the Internet Sharing app in the start menu. Even after changing the connection from "Phone as modem" to "Sprint"

So, I downloaded the "hot fix" that is at the very first post in this thread, soft reset, and tried again with the same results (error 67). I tried using the Internet sharing app in the start menu, as well as the quick link from the USB2PC popup app.

I then uninstalled the "hot fix", and followed the directions from Boo Boo I quoted above, I am able to tether succesfully from both the USB2PC popup link, and the Internet Sharing link from the start menu.

I will check my data usage on sprint in a few days to see if I get dinged with tethering charges. Can anyone confirm that Boo Boo's method is "safe"?

Re: ☢ ☢ ☢ ☢ ☢ [WARNING] - Tethering Users ☢ ☢ ☢ ☢ ☢

I am on Sprint. My "Internet Sharing" works, but I have to go through a few steps to get it to work. Those steps are as follows:

1. Open Browser
2. Open "Internet Sharing"
3. Plug USB cable
4. Choose "Active Sync" from popup
5. Select "Connect" in "Internet Sharing"

Is there a way to replace the file that the USBtoPC popup uses to open "Internet Sharing" with the one in "Programs" so that I don't have to go through all the steps mentioned above.

I'm asking this because I don't want to install the hot fix if its not broken.

thanks,
from what i understand, after the reg tweaks, he shouldn't need it because the issue only started with an updated version of pam that was being cooked into custom roms
