Hopefully this all goes through with no issue. Guess I'll find out by the end of next week.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
we see tp1's and tp2's in like that all the time at my repair center my theory is that the screen gets scratched just enough to let either oil from the persons hands into the actual membrane of the screen or it is done by the person taking the phone in with them to the bathroom when they take a shower and condensation gets under the screen. thats what happend to my voyager i scratched it and took it into the shower and within a few days my screen was exactly like that.on my tp2 i have the stock screen protector on it and havent scratched the screen and dont take it into the bathroom when i take my shower and my screen looks great

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
I have the same Rainbow Banding and was thinking I could replace the digitizer myself. I found some on eBay but the light sensor hole on my TP2 is on the other side. Am I looking at the right part to replace my Verizon TP2 digitizer?

For anyone wondering, these are called "Newton's Rings."
Source Do a google search for touch pro 2 newton ring and you will find a crap load of threads about it. Last edited by dewt; 06-15-2010 at 04:05 PM. |

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
If you pay for insurance on your phone take it to a repair center. Do not say anything about water, oil, steam, showers, pressure.... ect. Simply walk in, hand them the phone, and tell them that there is a perfect rainbow rectangle on your screen and you would like it repaired.
They will check your moisture sensors, and signs of excessive physical damage and replace the entire top slider. ![]()

I was turned away at the Sprint store - they told me that its merely "cosmetic", and that they won't repair/replace it since the phone still works ![]()

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
I went to the Sprint store in my area and the tech had the nerve to say it was nothing, that it was fine. Another tech stepped in an noted that with each of these bandings that are occuring that a screen will usually go out afterwards. Call their support line and demand results. We pay too much for those phones to have them throw it off as water damage (which is definately is not).
