Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
OK, so say you have a phone with rainbow banding. Can you not apply gently steady pressure to the phone, making the rainbow banding worse and the screen inoperable? Wouldn't that make the phone replaceable???

i got my replacement last monday and the tp2 with the banding has been sitting since, and now the banding is barely noticable i didnt really notice any delay or touch screen problems.....but the tp2 with the banding was a refurb and had touch screen problems from the start. i would think it would make it replaceable |

And then you should have said you had to jump-start the battery twice this week, so it must be defective too... Anyway, I had the rainbow banding, and my screen eventually stopped working entirely. Verizon has had my phone for about a week now, and I haven't heard anything back from them, nor have I seen anything show up on my bill. I'm hoping they took it back. Guess I will know for sure when my next bill generates.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
This happened to my TP2 about maybe 3 months in. Subsequently, the screen developed what looked like a 1/2" "tear" along the right side near the edge and what looked like a burn mark from the tear to the edge of the screen. At that point, the screen stopped responding to touch, but would still display. VZW replaced the phone no fuss as it was still under warranty.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
I had these "newton rings" on my UC Cell TP1 (zagg invisible shield case) and TP2 (default screen protector). From reading this thread supposedly it's caused when there's pressure on the screens causing a problem with the touch screen layers. Running android doesn't cause it, having a screen protector doesn't cause it. I usually hold my phone with my shoulder to the side of my face, and once I get my desire (hopefully it won't happen) I've started practicing holding my phone with the not touching my face. This should help eliminate this problem from future phones, although I believe it's a problem with HTC screen manufacturing process, as no other phones I've had show this issue.
