Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

got my new phone. it's a refurb, but feels brand new so far. just not used to seeing my phone w/o the rainbow banding now, lol. here's to hoping i'm not having to trade this one in anytime soon.

for anyone else wondering, i had sprint TEP, and was not charged anything for this replacement.

good luck to all other cases of this!

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

I just had this happen the other day, and if you have TEP they will replace the top slider screen and all in under 45min for no charge

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

I wonder if this has to do with how the phone is carried? I would expect that keeping the phone in a pocket would cause more pressure on the screen, and using a case might help if that's the issue.

This has been discussed many of times, even in this thread. Putting the phone in your pocket DOES cause excessive pressure on the screen, resulting in rainbow banding. Other known causes are extreme heat and cold following one another, or just pressing hard on the screen with your fingers when using over a long period of time.

I sound like a doctor....."Common side effects include rainbow banding"

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

I wonder how many people got this repeatedly on a number of devices vs people who never got this problem. Maybe there's a common denominator ?

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Add me to the list. I got it a while ago and called Verizon. They tried to tell me it was water damage, and that if I wanted my phone replaced, I would have to do it under my insurance plan. I of course kicked and screamed and they didn't budge.

Just today my screen has completely stopped working, so I had no choice but to call for replacement. So far they haven't brought this issue back up, nor have they indicated that I'll be charged, but we'll see what happens down the road.

Also, I tried a few things to fix it, none of which worked. I tried cooling the phone, tried using a hair dryer (gently/distantly), and I even left the phone in a ziploc bag stuffed full of silica gel.
