Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
So how common is this problem, anyway ? 38% seems awfully high, but then I assume people who are pissed off are much more likely to post.
Also, how badly does it affect the ability to view stuff on screen ? Is it just an eyesore, or would it actually prevent you from working with device. I just ordered TP2 and didn't know about this issue before placing an order. Seems however that nearly every smart device Sprint sells is plagued with one problem or another. I've owned 5 PDAs and all of them lasted me for years, my sister in law is still using my first one that's 10 years old, have had the Axim for over 3 years now, before that iPaq2215 that I sold after 2 years of use in nearly perfect shape, the only one causing problems was iPaq 36xx with infamous digitizer bug. So at the very least I want the device to last 2 years - is it too much to ask of TP2 ? I intend to use its PDA functions for notetaking, scheduling and so on, this was the main reason I chose the styilus-enabled and WM-based TP2 over other devices. In my case, I had had my phone over a month, and had no issue. So I voted NO in the poll. Another month later, I had the issue. Got a replacement, then another month and a half later I got it again. So my vote was originally cast for NO, but it should really be YES. Might be others like that out there. As for ability to view stuff, you can usually only see the banding in fluorescent lighting and outdoors. If you are under fluorescent lighting a lot, it is miserable. Mine got to the point where I could no longer operate the device. |

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
This is correct. For the most part it was barely usable outside, but that's almost the case with or w/o the banding for me. I used it indoors most of the time, and it was almost never an issue. Maybe I just got used to it. It was annoying, but was never that big a deal till it stopped working altogether. Will get my phone today... Wish me luck!

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
for those on Verizon and got a replacement, did you have insurance on the phone?
Mine is over a yr old now and has the rainbow banding. I don't have insurance on the phone so wondering if I am just out of luck on getting it replaced. (phone still functions correctly right now but have seen others say that over time it will become unusable)
