Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

1. Can I install this to the Storage Card?

2. Is this free with Sprint Unlimted Data pack.. Do you need any other programs to use this a GPS Nav while driving?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes, that's where mine is installed (takes more memory than what most have on-board).
2. Uses no data, therefore no data charges. All data is in your memory card.

iGO8 and TTS working on Mighty Rom 02.04.2010

First off, many thanks to xpsworm for starting this thread.

I have spent 2 days playing with different configurations and settings and was about ready to give up on TTS but with the help from several posts in this thread I have iGO8 installed and working on Mighty Rom 02.04.2010.

I am using the mortscript posted earlier (the one that runs "CleanRam") with the CleanRam settings as suggested. The script closes HTC Sense perfectly, runs CleanRam (usually with a ram savings of between 11 and 14MB) then runs IGO8 with working TSS! Then when I exit iGO8 it restarts HTC Sence and I'm back to normal.
NOTE: I also use Gyrator2 and it keeps TTS from working so I added it to the CleanRam list of programs to kill, then I added a line in the mortscript to restart it on exiting iGO8.

BONUS: Another thing I discovered that is an added bonus, I have a Bluetooth Stereo in my truck and if I switch to Bluetooth Audio on my stereo the voice comes through my speakers perfectly.

The only thing that would make this set up better is if I could listen to music and have the TTS voice over-ride the music when it is needed like it does when I receive a call. The way it is set up now I can only do one, either Navigation or Music.

Again, thanks to all who contributed information to this thread, it has been a great help.

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

FYI folks, when I have the driver="GDI" line under [rawdisplay] in sys.txt, my screen rotates when I slide open the keyboard with iGO8 running (and I end up with the undesirable situation of having half the screen displayed and the other half cut off).

Since my iGO8 used to internally disable screen rotation once it's started up in either portrait or landscape, this had me scratching my head quite a bit. A light went on when I tried a "virgin" sys.txt and...no more unwanted rotation.

If you have this problem, try removing that line.

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

Hi,
Finally i installed igo successfully. I have the following concerns.

Though my tts is working and sys file got the following entries, it still does not say street names.
always_say_road_names=1
announce_street_name=1

when i rotate screen, i am facing the same problem as rete (I end up with the undesirable situation of having half the screen displayed and the other half cut off), however i do want the rotation.

And another thing strange is even though I90 is there and is fastest, route option does not consider it. I have checked and toll roads is checked.

please advise.

Unfortunately, iGO8 doesn't support screen rotation once it has started; you have to decide before starting up if you want to run in portrait or landscape. At least iGO8 by default "resists" the screen rotation by (unless you have the driver="GDI" line in sys.txt).

So the best you can do is to remove the line from your sys.txt file, and the application will remain in it's startup mode regardless of opening and closing keyboards.

Are you sure you have tts working? The difference between tts and regular voice is that tts says the street names and regular voice does not.

Go into you settings - regional and see if the voice selected says TTS in the selection. If it doesn't then you don't have a TTS voice selected.

As far as the screen rotation, maybe someone else will chime in, but with mine if you rotate the program while in use it will mess up the display. I use a program called Gyrator2 that rotates the screen and also lets you configure a program so that it will not rotate. I have set iGO8 to not rotate, then in the iGO8 settings I set it to use sytem settings. That way if I want portrait I simply start the program with my phone in portrait mode, or if I want landscape I start it in landscape mode.

I don't open the keyboard while using iGO8 because it will mess up the display for me every time. I tried the fix that rete suggested but it doesn't effect mine, if I open the keyboard regardless of the mode I am in it rotates the screen.

You may have reference the incorrect window title or program name for iGO. Your setting in Gyrator is still not disabling the the rotation for this program. Do you have Gyrator set to rotate globally or manila (possible). I haven't used this program in a long time since I started putting in my own reg edits for rotation.

For reference, I am using version 8.3.4.117940 with diMka WertVRV 1.1.33 skin running in high.res mode (highres=0; vga=0). Once mine is started (since I removed driver="GDI" from [rawdisplay]), if I open or close the keyboard the screen briefly flickers off-on but stays in it's startup mode (portrait or landscape).

So the TTS problem is one thing, but also no one knows what is causing TTS not to work?

I had iGO8 running fine on my Touch Pro, What could have possibly changed?

I want iGO to run like it was before I tried that Mortscript thing and couldn't even get it to work and is such a hassle.
