Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

Argh. Thought it was "gone" and now it came back. Cleared up after only 2 "magic incantations", but ugh. I think I'm done. Switching to a Droid.

I'm thinking the same..I have until next Friday. Let me ask, If I go and get the BB storm 2 now and send my imagio back before the droid comes out Nov 6th do I have to wait another 30 days to return the BB storm 2? I would like to play with the BB Storm 2 for a month and then get the droid after I read what people are saying about it? Would that work within the guideline of the 30day return at Verizion?

I just tried an older radio version of 1.87 and it's doing the same damn thing. This is getting really frusterating!

Ok ..I just got off the phone with Verizon.. I wanted to return my phone but couldn't without losing my money because my activation was over 30days for my TP2 in which I excahnged to the imagio..I guess you get one exchange from the activation date no new phone date. So They patched me to tech support level 2. I had been through this before... He told me they could send me a new (refurbed phone). I told him no thanks. I want you to give me a blackberry. He told me nope I used my exchange going from the TP2 to the imagio. . So i'm stuck with a phone that locks into 1X. I asked if Verizon notified HTC about the issue, he told me "NO", its not enough of a problem. So there you go. Does anyone have any work arounds?

Anyone have the name of a high level tech that they spoke to? Someone who might actually know what they are talking about? Maybe if we all talk to the same Level 2 or Level 3 tech then we can finally get them to realize that there is a problem that NEEDS to be fixed!

Like many others, I have the same "stuck in 1X" problem (with my Imagio) and have tried ALL "fixes" that have been recommended on this thread. Those that worked only worked temporarily.

My unscientific conclusion is that anything that recycles the radio (*228 options 1 & 2, hard reset, soft reset, changing GSM/CDMA mode, going to airplane mode and back, etc.) gives it a chance to "see" a 3G signal again but as soon as the signal weakens, even for a moment, it becomes stuck in 1X and won't go back -- except maybe with a very strong 3G signal. There's something fundamentally wrong with the radio hardware/firmware. Must be the same radio in the TP2 and Imagio.

I seriously doubt that any VZW tech is going to fix this problem. Hopefully, it'll be fixed with a firmware update in the future.

The radio is also weak receiving WiFi. I can sit next to my router and the signal strength only shows less than 50%. Also it does not detect my neighbors' WiFi access points as do my iPod Touch and other computers in my house.

I can't do anything to get my TP2 out of 1X today. Tried everything and I'm completely locked in. *228 won't even let me activate anymore, says I have to call customer support.

I'm gonna get the unlocker and see if anything changes for me, but as others have said it didn't help them so I'm not holding out too much hope.

Ok, lets somehow, someway officially register this problem with Verizon. I think it's the radio... I'm as well having bad WI-FI reception. Has any one tried HTC? Can we send them to this Thread?

I unlocked and flashed MightyROM on Saturday. Sunday during one of my many soft resets from installing cabs it got stuck again in 1X. Did the *228 incantation and it's back in 3G/EV.

Im like Janko10 now. I cannot get out of 1X no matter what I try.. WTF
