Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I've found that most of the odd keyboard behavior can't be overcome by my software. The keyboard driver is up to the phone manufacturer and HTC is notorious for including strange keyboard behaviors that are not good for gaming. I'll take another look at the TP2 and see if there's any way I can allow more keyboard support. On my T-Mobile TP2, most of the keyboard works fine for SmartGear.
I doubt that I can import someone else's save state because of the way that they manage their emulator's internal variables. Not sure it would be worth the effort. L.B. |

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I would like some feedback on a new feature I'm writing. Here's the new file "browser". As you select files, a live preview window is displayed showing the game running. Right now I have this as a new option on the file menu (File->Browse) as well as the original file selector (File->Open). Should this replace the original file selector, or should I keep both? Should I make the preview window full size on WVGA devices (e.g. 320x224) or is a mini-view ok? Would you like the option of sound enabled for the preview or keep it silent? Here's a screenshot of it in action:

I would say that feature isn't really necessary but if you have to, keep it mini-view while silent. Keep up the good work.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
Is any work being done to support native game saves (the file originally written to the battery) that would be compatible with other emulators? Save states are nice but obviously they're proprietary. Haven't seen any mention of it since I requested the feature in January.

I have had native game saves in there for quite a while, but it never seemed to work correctly. I'll retest that feature this week; thanks for reminding me.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I believe he/she is talking about flashram, or eeprom saves, such as with Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Crystalis.... etc. I have not had a chance to try out the newest version of your emu yet. Still have an old 1.0.4 release that is a bit outdated. The native save files are usually from 4kb - 16kb depending on the game. The save usually occurs in game, say after hitting a certain point, or by moving your character to a certain location such as an Inn where it prompts if you want to save or not after resting.
Sorry if this may've seemed obvious, but I wasn't sure if you understood what was being asked. Thanks for the feedback on the key mapping. It seems it's quite a challenege just to get controls set up on this thing, regardless if it's key presses or touchscreen. They are both complicated to work with. Perhaps with the keypad, since it pulls a code for both the initial key press and the key release, maybe it could be setup to "ignore" the release function? Idk.. it's just a thought and I'm not extremely familiar with all code functions yet. May I ask what code you are using for this emu? |
