Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!

Maybe it is me...but I have NOT noticed any issues with using the keyboard for gameplaying- set it up to the way I felt comfortable. PO works good- made it to the 3rd fighter... easily....occasionally my big thumbs got in the way, hence the gamepad will be easier.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!

Hold off on that LB. I assumed it needed KforRaphael.. but I was wrong. I got all the controls set up no problem now. Sorry, I hadn't even tried it until now, and apologies for the confusion.

Now that I have tried it, heres some more feedback. The "." registered as a key for button "Select" on NES. But pushing that button in game didn't do anything. Assume I will have to use a different key. Backspace key registers as a square symbol, so again, I assume that key is not useable yet. NES emulation works perfect almost. HUGE difference over the old versions. There are some things I notice about the square wave channels that doesn't always sit right, but I wont get into that. Genesis emulation , well I have to say it, it doesn't work. I get the same problem as the other person. As soon as I open the rom, the screen turns black. No feedback from buttons, no sound..nada. Double tap wont pause it. I have to push the red hardware button for phone power , which makes the green indicator arrow on the left "Press to turn on backlight" , which I do, and that brings the pause screen up. Still, buttons wont respond after this. I have to click the X on the corner and then close it in Task Manager. Sorry, don't know what is causing it. All buttons are configure for Genesis (yes , for 6 button controller).

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!

Uploaded a new build (2.0.9) which fixes many of the issues with load/save and stability. Please give it a try:

P.S. I haven't seen any comments about the wireless controller support. Is anyone using a BGP100 or Zeemote with SmartGear and if so, are you happy with the way it works?

I've got some interest in trying out these controlers... and will but one thing i want to be sure of is that I get the best for my particular setup. So, you say that the Zeemote works the best if my device is using the MS BT stack... I have to assume that it is as its WinMo 6.5, MightyRom Rhodium.W. Cold you confirm for me (if possible) that my phone is compatible with the zeemote?

Also, I have an Apple BT keyboard (though i am a Windows user). I'm getting curious now about other BT input devices like full blown keyboards. Any thoughts as to their application to this topic?

And as a reminder to people - it might be a long shot but maybe, just maybe we could get a gameripper for the TP2 - hit the link a couple of pages back.

I've tried bluetooth keyboards and they connect to the TP2, but don't always work well for gaming. Some keyboards output a make+break code when you press a key and so software won't be able to tell that you're holding the key down.

I'm able to play games on the TP2 pretty well without a wireless controller. It's the HD2 and other devices with no keyboard which really need help. Unfortunately both the TP2 and HD2 use the Widcomm bluetooth stack and I currently don't support communicating with the zeemote on the Widcomm stack. For HD2 and TP2 users, the BGP100 is recognized as a virtual com port and SmartGear works well with it. The best deal I could find is $24.28 on Dealextreme:

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!

Update

New versio didn't fix the black screen issue with Genesis, though not sure if it was supposed to. After messing around with Genesis for awhile and changing settings, I found out what is causing the emulator to lock up on Gen. I disabled sound support option and suddenly Genesis games started loading. There must be something with the Gen sound thats causing it to hang. Disabling 16 bit sound didn't fix it.

While I had gen working, I tried out a couple games to see how they would work. Ghouls and Ghosts displayed fine. Arcus Odyssey is not playable. The graphics in AA are all mangled up and not even viewable.

Haven't tried any other system emulation yet.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!

I've been trying this version since it came out this morning it is still having issues. The GDI option just makes the screen blank. When I disable GDI it causes the game to stutter as the game runs. This applies NES and GB. Haven't tried the SNES. The FPS flashes in the upper left corner of the screen. I used to be able to touch the screen and return to the menu with the game paused. I am not sure how to do it. I just start double tapping the screen. Is there a way to disable the touchscreen controls and just use it to pause the game?

You're seeing some of the issues that have been corrected in 2.0.9. Throttling should be turned ON. If turned off, you'll see the FPS display in the corner of the display. There's rarely a need to use the GDI option - it will be slow.

Thanks for providing more details, but this is very puzzling to me. I tried Arcus Odyssey and it works fine. What phone are you using? What are your settings? Please double check the version number in the about box and make sure you're using 2.0.9. I'm not seeing any of these issues, so perhaps you're running an older version.
