Re: How to stop defaulting back ot the home tab

tsowen -> thanks for your help. i think you captured all the things i have tried over the last 2 days. it is getting even more annoying because i have been dialing into teleconferences and have had a tough time entering the access numbers because i had to find the keypad again.

Re: How to stop defaulting back ot the home tab

For some reason I can't access the links with the registry mods. Can someone post the appropriate edits that have to be on a telus phone to disable the home tab default problem?

Re: How to stop defaulting back ot the home tab

I had the same behavior so I switched to SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 and it disappeared. The last screen displayed returns on power resume and the dialer returns after the proximity sensor blanks the screen. (Call history is not accessible under SPB so time to search.)

Re: How to stop defaulting back ot the home tab

I went to the HTC site and they have a Contact Us. I filled out the form and also linked them to this thread. Hopefully they can read and also see the others threads I have linked in several other forums. Seems its not an isolated issue with just one or two of us so somehow I think its a design flaw. Reading over at XDA seems this bug started with the Touch HD and was a known issue already with the Device Lock and the Dial Pad.

tsowen -> when i started this thread, i thought the issue was a bug. i changed my opinion a few days ago when i realized the screen turns off when i place the phone on the table for teleconferences. my guess is the developers didnt take into account the location or performance of the light sensor when it is covered up against a person's ear.

i wonder if all the HTC folks have bluetooth and don't have to worry about using the speaker itself for phone calls.

Re: How to stop defaulting back ot the home tab

To summarize the issue, are the following statements correct?

1. Problem only repros when using the PIN unlock mechanism
2. Most of us are forced to use PIN unlock for security reasons

Does the problem repro if someone simply turns on PIN lock without being forced to by a group policy from their company? Or could there be something else in the group policy package that is causing this?

This brings up a related question. Is it possible to replace the default PIN unlock with something better like ThrottleLock that could still be considered as "secure" as a PIN?
