That thread has been closed, locked????? Any updates on anyone testing SIM cards in the Sprint TP2?

I think I've posted this many times across the board, but the bottom line is that Sprint's TP2 does NOT, I repeat, does NOT have a subsidy (network) lock on it. However as long as the phone see it tries to go on an US-based GSM network it will simply refuse to operate. Does not matter what type of SIM card you put in there, home-service (domestic) or roaming onto (international), as long as it goes onto an US-based GSM network, it'll simply refuse to work.

On the other hand, I am in China right now (Grand Hyatt Shanghai, 85th floor baby ), the China Telecom SIM card works perfectly. I have posted my found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=87113

So to recap, in the States? GSM = no no; out of the States? GSM = Yes.

quick que Steve.... I already kinda know da answer, but just to be assured. So, u just took da phone overseas and put in an international SIM card, and it worked fine?! w/out any attachment to Sprint, or w/out having to unlock da phone for international like VZ TP2??? THNX.

On my Verizon TP2, I just called VZW global sales, and they gave me an unlock code for my phone. Now it works with US-GSM carriers (yes, I did in fact test it with my friends AT&T SIM car in my Verizon phone, and it registered on the AT&T network, and I successfully made a phone call. It's too bad Sprint isn't doing the same, my buddy has a Sprint TP2, and I was checking to see what's being said about the SIM unlock for it.

I think that you will need to input the wap info for the your provider into the phone for internet access.

hopefully sprint gets unlocked with the unlocker becasue next time I go to the coast and go to an area sprint doesn't work I wont be **** out of luck lol Usually its rare though sprint doesn't work for me but sometimes...
