no. the radio handles a lot of cpu specific initalization parameters, and the TP2 GSM uses a 7201A still vs 7600. Unless you are really lucky (which you won't be) after the sucessful flash, your phone will be a very pretty brick.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in. It looks like what I read is its unlocked for International SIM cards, not US. I have tried 4 sim cards. Tmobile and ATT would not even search for carrier, Also Sim Manager crashes. I put a Digicell (Jamaica) SIM in and it found service (obviously it was roaming to) and 1 SIM in from the Bahamas (have to check the carrier name). This one said searching but couldn't find anything. Also SIM Manager worked for the 2 international SIMs

But, just wanted to post what I found in case it has not been mentioned.

OK here is my experience with the GSM part:

Device: Telus TP2
Location: Guadalajara, MEXICO
Carrier: TELCEL

When I received the TP2 i put my mexican Telcel SIM in it, it said that since it had detected a SIm card it was changing to global mode, then after a while it said that it was an invalid SIm card and switched back to CDMA mode.

After putting in the unlock code it read the SIM and registered in the network without any problems.

So at lest the Telus TP2 IS locked for international SIM's, but CAN be unlocked so you can use it with any SIM.

I also tried an ATT SIM and it worked fine.

Sprint rep told me that the only way to start up that little god forsaken sim reader would be like this

1)get the htc touch pro 2
2)before activating it try a sim card in it ( the default for when there is a activated phone is to swarm the cdma network now if the phone cant find that due to an unactivated phone then it will rely on its Sim Reader to jump the signal.But then she said it only works on international towers that give you discounts on the rates per minute, then i asked her well if it could pick up gsm international shouldnt it be able to read usa gsm towers as well, and she said yes sir!

Well so far, Sprint is the ONLY one that had US-towers locked down. I've read some posts where someone has already successfully obtained a subsidy unlock code from Verizon and unlocked their VZW TP2, then put in an active AT&T SIM card, and actually registered on to the AT&T network, received and made phone calls using the AT&T SIM.

Sprint, WTF really.

i have a pro 2 from sprint and its sim unlock i tested with a Claro PR sim and works very good !!!!
