Look here, according to the FCC docs from the Verizon model, the chipset in the CDMA version, at least for Verizon but, we are unable to use it due to it being disabled. THE CHIPSET DOES SUPPORT IT. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=49

It's just sad, you hold a phone in your hand that has a feature but, because of about 2 lines of code (about 50 letters), you can not use it. Thanks Verizon ! I only stated the last post because it he said "it's not there"....when it is....and I didn't bump it, because someone else did, I went out looking for info (because it would be a cool feature) |

Yep. Beginning to end.
Did you? Quote:
Your link is to someone's interpretation of what they say they saw on the FCC website, not to any objectively factual information. There is no actual direct information at your link. I'm not saying Borg561 is wrong, but I am saying your link is extremely weak evidence. See if you can show that: a) Verizon (or someone else) disabled the function as opposed to not enabling it b) The FM radio function theoretically present in the chipset is physically connected in a way that makes it usable under any circumstances. |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
Hi guys. I'd like to take a different approach on this.
All stuff I was able to find on this thread is good but lets get some stuff going on so we can find out for sure if FM radio is locked on SPL level. We know that hardware is there. We also know that it works on GSM version of TP2 Stuff i'd like to get accomplished: Compare registry of GSM and CDMA version of TP2 So please be so kind and if someone has tools: GSM TP2 users: dump phone registry while FM radio is up and running and also when no apps are open. I have Verizon CDMA version. I have tried to install HTC FM RADIO cab - no go so far. I have also tried to do some registry edits but it will be better if i have a dump of GSM version so i know what to look for. Anyone? Lets get this stuff to work Power to WM ! |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
I doubt that Broadcom, despite the size of the CDMA carriers expected user base re-engineered a chip just because they didn't want an FM Radio to be present. They would have just picked a different chip to be included or do what they likely did, just lock it out with the bootloader that initializes the phone's hardware. To get it working would take a considerable amount of work, and I'm guessing that the people that have the knowledge to do so have long moved on to other things.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
Riddle me this.... Does ANY US CDMA based carrier (I know there are a bunch that carry this phone but, I have never heard about) that offers FM support on a Touch Pro 2/tilt2 ?

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
No. The primary reason is that the hardware does not support it. The primary reason that's the case is because the carriers did not want it.

In this thread, it's quoted from HTC that is said that it's software disabled by choice of the carrier (and followed up a few times through out the thread), it just needs a rom update to be enabled (PRL ?), so hardware is there, just not enabled software wise. So, the question comes up, now with it legal to jailbreak a phone, that is now not carried by any provider (Vwz and sprint, disco'ed), wouldn't it be ok/legal for HTC to release a un-supported rom update to enable this ? Just makes me wonder why the experts never found out how to enable this though but, it might come down to needing the source code to enable it.... |
