FM radio would be nice on the TP2, a $7 portable radio from Wal-Mart can play AM AND FM, but not a Windows MObile $600+ (retail) PocketPC!?

I would love to have AM radio on the TP2, oh well... with this much difficulty and confusion getting FM, I'm sure AM is gone with the wind!

I use to get an error stating the hardware wasn't available.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

Kinoma Play + TouchPro2 = RADIO BLISS!!

I know this doesn't help people who want to use the FM radio with IGo8, but if yout want to listen to radio stations, Kinoma Play is a FAR BETTER Solution. You get a BAZILLION stations and no problems with selective fading and signal shadows the you would have using the FM radio. Because of the very inefficient antenna unless you are right on top of an FM radio tower, I think that the FM radio feature would be a very poor performer. Look, I'd love to have the FM radio working, too, but if it was, I'm pretty sure I would use Kinoma instead due to the superior performance over the fm receiver. I must admit, that I'm surprised that all of the talented people on this site and others like XDA haven't figured it out.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

I know we'll never get it on this phone, but at least it looks like the next generation of phones will probably have it since the imagio has it. Since MS looks like they want to integrate zune services into WM7, I'm hopeful they will also require a HD Radio the way they implemented it in the Zune HD. Anyone else want HD Radio?

HD Radio would be cool, I haven't been able to use it myself, but the clarity and the fact it is free just like regular radio is enticing. The Imagio is Android by HTC, right? Too bad there isn't a way to modify or port the FM program capability over to the TP2 from that phone since you said it is pre-installed.

I am constantly torn over issues like this... on one hand I would of course LOVE to have more capability and power from Windows phones and would like to see more apps developed for them; but on the other hand I hate complaining, because a short few years ago cell phones flipped open and made calls - and that was it, LOL! I'm sure with the items at this year's CES and the ever expanding cell phone market and user base, as well as the amazing dual-core snapdragon processor that was recently unveiled, will all culminate to bring forth some amazing tech in the near future!

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

you are totally out of your mind... kinoma play is not the answer...

FM would NOT be an under-performer AND is a FAR BETTER solution...

I live in San Antonio, while Sprint (CDMA Carrier) boasts coverage, their are LOADS of areas where its 1 bar or drops constantly however... so kinoma play? NOT! dropping, re-buffering and conectivity issues are a HUGE problem AND the MAJORITY of FREE music stations operate at 64kbps (some are COMPRESSED which TRYS to imitate 96kbps at 64kbps but fails miserably). FM functionality would do a few things: no dropped signal crap like you WOULD/WILL/ECT get with apps like kinoma and Internet radios, batter life, and in most cases of your favorite station, QUALITY

also last time i looked at TP FM stats (GSM of course from what users posted in the GSM forums for the Diamond and TP) the battery life is at least 2-4 hours longer then if you where to be using a constant DATA connection... (this is abstract based upon the many people who asked how their batter life was while using FM compared to those using an Internet radio alternative)

think before you speak...

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

Just an FYI to all those out there running HTC devices that do support FM radio: Over at xda-developers, work continues on Power Radio, a terrific little app that makes FM radio a pleasure to use. I've posted in this thread before, but I just want to get word out about this. Check the thread. As of this writing, Power Radio is up to version 2.2.3.0 --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531600
