Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
Although I agree that Sprint is locking down FM Radio for their own gain. I disagree that its for Sprint music store. Lets not forget that right there with Sprint tv is Sprint Radio. That is what they are protecting, the revenue off the paid version of Sprint Radio. They don't get is people will buy it anyway just like they do Sirius. I like Sprint Radio and sirius more than FM radio, but sometimes I just like to listen to a local chanel. They need to pull their head out of you no where and realize this. Instead they like to piss off loyal customers with their needless lock downs of supplied hardware.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
i don't understand why on earth any company would lock down a feature built into the phone. couldn't they just advertise FM as one of the features of the phone instead of taking the time to lock it down for no good reason??

I think that's the case with Sprint. "I think their data is flawed though." I personally have only downloaded 2 songs ut of the 1000 or so I shuffle on and off my storage card. 1 of the songs I DL'ed would not even play on my TP. Now if I had an FM radio and the choice to use either, I feel it would definately be a selling point. Cuz we all know sometime there aint **** on the radio, and we turn to our recorded music. The amount of revenue generated by enabling a feature obviously did not outweigh theyre music store revenues. Although they probably didnt delimit they're queries by device type. That would require some effort on their part. |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
The conclusion is that we don't know how to fix it and that it will probably require an unlock from HTC, which isn't going to happen unless the carriers ask for it.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
Thanks to all for pushing data to limits to figure this out.
It has to be possible to get it to this to work, my thoughts at this point could lead to physical grounding to an antenna source on the board may not be hard-wired to activate the actual hardware (FM BT) which would require one to disassemble the phone to conclude that the board makes that physical relationship possible. The post I read that said HTC has an unlocking ROM for this makes me believe it is possible still. Thanks again EVERYONE who has given their time! |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
the carriers (sprint, vzw, etc) are just waiting for apple to make FM radio on the iPhone. and then a year later they will make it available to our devices. As much as i would never use an iPhone, im very thankful that it came out. why u ask? it challenged all PDA makers to up their game in making high quality and finger friendliness devices, which was way overdue. I can thank apple for that at least. Still i'm a WM fan all the way. My last hope sits on WM 7. If MS dont get this right, they will have lost me as fan. I will move to android.
Something even a $20 MP3 player can do, my $600 phone cant even understand what FM is. that's just plain old ridiculous! I really dislike carrier bullying! |
