Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp
If you didn't know what the internals of the phone were you would not even recognize it as the same phone. As long as the phone runs smoothly and does what is intended, what does it matter if it ran on a 50 MHz processor?
The phone has an epic keyboard, large and highly responsive resistive screen, and a newer version of TouchFlo, what more could you want from a phone? This phone in no way resembles the Touch Pro than an Instinct resembles the iPhone. |

There are already ports of the touchflo on the diamond2 and the pro2 available, any software issue you have can be put on a pro1. The screen and 3.5mm is the only difference I see. The instinct/iphone analagy isn't really a good one, a better analogy would be from a 3g to a 3gs, which is basically no difference. But I don't wanna hate, its your money, your choice, your preference and it is a new phone with a wicked screen size/resolution. I don't like external keyboards which is why I have a diamond, but if that's a big deal then I can totally see the appeal, I guess my latent frustration at how easy it would have been to put a better processor and a better ui than just tweaking tf3d, especially when 6.5 is around the bend is coming out, maybe if I actually got one I'd feel differently. Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp
If this phone is able to be activated on a plan other than an Everything Plus plan, it is my belief it may be one of the last phones to be able to do so. We're about to turn the corner on new technology (4G, WM7, Android, Snapdragon, Nvidia processors) and do you really think they're going to allow us SERO customers to keep upgrading to all this new stuff and keep our plan from years ago when 1 out of 100 people really cared about the internet on their phone? I just can't see it happening.
They're going to continue making phones that cannot be activated on a SERO plan, so I'm going to get the newest phone that is while I still can!! |

Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp
You're missing a huge and most important addition for me... Global roaming GSM. That feature is worth $200 alone on top of my TP1 because as it stands, I have to have a 150 Euro phone to use when I travel. Not to mention I'll have all my contacts and GPS nav (for both US and EU) available on demand. I'm just hoping that the TP2 will support data services through the SIM card as it does on CDMA (ie Internet Sharing, email, etc.)

Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp
Orangekid, we are all different and we value things differently, thats why we all have different opinions. To you the only difference is the larger screen and 3.5mm jack and to be quite honest that IS the only major difference since all the software stuff can me ported like you said. Me personally, I never had a problem with htc's propriety usb connection so I could care less if it had the 3.5mm jack or not but when I heard that the tp2 will have a 3.6" screen, I almost jizzed in my pants. I am getting it for the sole purpose of the larger screen as well as the international gsm support.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp
Everyone talks about the screen size and 3.5mm jack, but no one mentions the freakishly amazing speakerphone that the TP2 has. The TP1's speakerphone is absolute junk. It sounds terrible, and there's no noise cancellation like the TP2 has. That, along with screen size, 3.5mm jack, bigger keyboard, tf3d2, and the sex factor of it all...I'm getting one. haha

Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp
It seems orangekid assumes everyone upgrading is coming from a Pro or Diamond. A lot of folks, like me, are on a Mogul (or older). Even so, it's not an easy decision, as a well working Mogul has a lot of features the TP lost, and even more features are lost on the TP2 (even more buttons lost, and the flashlight). And the ICI (Interactive Cartoon Interface ) has some functionality downsides, like the extra steps to cut and paste text from emails and text messages. But good working Moguls are getting scarcer, new ones almost impossible to find, so it's getting close to the time to bite the bullet, I'm afraid.
