Re: DREAM PHONE - Mini guide :>))
Po, oox & max.. as stated earlier, I'm not a pretty icon guy, I'd hate to let you guys down with a pic... it's about functionality & speed for me, so it will have to be a short video, zipped of course... I'll try to take it on wife's tp2 & put up here in next couple days.. (hockey again tonight).. and actually been so busy lately, my builds are always in some sort of being 1/2 done... as long as the basics function fast & well & I can open 6 Opera tabs.. heck, i'm still on 29005!

There is also a quick and easy guide to getting android running on your TP2. I'd recommend an SD card of class 6 or better. I've been running it as my primary OS for the past 6 months. It's only recently really become feasible for that though. Battery life is much improved now that it properly goes to sleep when you're not using it. And someone just fixed the camera recently, (although i haven't gotten it to work yet). My preference right now is WinMo, Energy Titanium Rom (w/ page pool set to 6), switch start menu to panel (w/ energy tool), overclock to 729.6 with WiMoSpeed (search for it on XDA), and running iphone today. My phone is blaszin and everything works like a charm. Never enjoyed WinMo more than now (and i really hated it before)... Hope this helps! EDIT: I have been running overclocked since yesterday morning w/o charging and no reboots. Still have 120 mb ram free and 49% battery life left. Unbelievable! Re: DREAM PHONE - Mini guide :>))
Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I ordered a 16 gb class 6 micro sd and should be getting it in a few days. Ive tried about 5 different 1-4 gb microsd and I can't get android to work on any of them. I can get to the xdandroid loading screen but then it contiously loops on the xdandroid screen where the green men come up and I have to take out the battery for it to reset. Then when I try to click on the android icon it takes me to the pick your device screen. I click on rhod400 and still no luck. It freezes everytime. I guess I need that class 6. I was going to try sharkie rom 3.0 just to see the difference between sharkie & energy. I have read alot & will continue to read alot and I really appreciate your help teradog & skydog. Besides the issue with android my phone has been running great with iphonetoday.
Skydog, which energy titanium rom do you use? 21916 or 29007? What do these #'s mean? Last edited by klbarnes1; 01-25-2011 at 09:58 AM. Reason: add |

I use 29007. The number refers to the release version of Windows Mobile. The interface is a little different. Primarily, i just like my start button at the bottom. I don't know if it adds any performance differences. Others can probably comment on that more than I can. The rom you have flashed doesn't matter when it comes to XDAndroid. The reason is because traditional XDAndroid runs 100% off the SD card. Your rom is loaded on the internal storage (NAND) of your device. There is a version of XDAndroid that will "boot" from the NAND, but the OS still runs off the SDCard. It just prevents you from having to run haret.exe every time. I would not recommend the nand version of XDAndroid until you're comfortable with the traditional version. There is really no other advantage to it other than booting. It sounds like you may be trying to boot XDAndroid while you've got the CPU overclocked. This won't work. You need to set the clock back down to the default (528 i believe) before you boot XDAndroid. It will not work otherwise. That's why i like WiMoSpeed. You can put shortcuts on your today screen that correspond to preset clock speeds. I have one for 729 and one for 528. I always hit 528 before booting XDAndroid. Speaking of XDAndroid... Tiad just released a new version: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...1-01-12-a.html Just follow his VERY easy guide to setting it up. Hope this helps! |

I am considering getting familiar with android and so this will help. My question is which version is most complete? I see in Teradog's sig link he has other versions posted. I just interested in a full experience, not bleeding edge if it doesn't have all features that other versions have. Do any of them able to send mms? What are the few areas left that android does not do on TP2?? thanx..

Yea, his problem... still OC'd, SIM card in, or not working droid GUI... (often conflicting with an existing incorrect startup.txt)... EITHER use the gui OR the startup.txt Quote:
If just starting. Follow my 6 steps, get it working so you can make a phone call & get data (surf the web)... play around get use to the keys... then a few days down the road... hit item (V. 6) and read, and update those things that are specific to a TP2. This is BY FAR the easiest & fastest way, you should be able to pop in an original 1GB micro SD, reformat, follow my 6 easy steps & DL V. 1 "reference" & have it running in 15 min! |

Re: DREAM PHONE - Mini guide :>))
I haven't really done much with it, just learning the ropes on IPT. I have full screen (no soft keys at the bottom) using second today in combination with nuenobar 2. I am also using 29007 Cookie from the initial recommendation but I think I want to try the enegry titanium rom as I've been having some hang/freeze up and other weird issues. I have tweaked my opera to use more connections, not sure that I noticed a difference. What version of opera are you guys using? The one that come stock with Energy roms, or different? I've also been using winmospeed and I haven't really noticed it changing anything. I don't use my phone a whole lot, mostly just SMS (where I have the most hanging), google maps, the phone and the occasional opera web browsing. I've found the best way to get icons for IPT is to use Opera on your phone to google image search for png icons of whatever you're looking for, that way you know it'll look decent on the phone before you mess around with downloading it and using it. How often are you guys restarting your phones? I never restart mine unless it's unresponsive. Maybe I should restart more regularly? Last edited by kyle h.; 01-31-2011 at 02:23 PM. |

Re: DREAM PHONE - Mini guide :>))
Yesterday I messed around with over clocking to 729MHz, I now have the link created with WinMoSpeed in my startup dir, phone is working great! Again hoping I don't have to bite my tongue as it's been less than 24 hours like this.
I found Dark Ninjas Opera 10 final baked in with flash, I had to enable plugins in opera to get the flash working. I also tweaked some of the other settings in opera 10, I like it so much more than 9 or 9.7, whatever is coming in the energy roms. It sure uses a lot of memory though, ~40MB. I also played a little more with IPT to get it working a little smoother by changing some of the default settings. I used the hardware button remapper suggested by tera earlier, I only remaped the home key to fire second today, so that it brings me back to my IPT 'home' screen. If I use the hang up or back button it kills all? the apps and I get a blank today screen. I blew away (deleted) all my sms's and I haven't had it freeze up in the sms app yet. And now my only gripe is the terribly skinned contact details part. I'll look more into fixing that. Any suggestions? |

Re: DREAM PHONE - Mini guide :>))
Yes!! Opera 10 is sweet, but it uses so much memory that the TP2 closes other programs as needed. Almost always shutting down zsirc... :'(
