Re: Touch Pro 2 no longer available through Asurion

Sprint has over 48+ "Million" subscribers. Now, that said there's only a small handful still on the old $30/month plan. Sprint could drop all of them and it wouldn't phase them. but regardless, we're still in contract and still a customer. We can call and gripe all we want, but the $30/SERO plan holders probably aren't going to get what they want like some customers do...Sprint just doesn't care about these account types anymore, pretty simple.

Still we shouldn't be punished and have to be forced to double our rate plan all because they want to release newer phones. If that's the case, then there's got to be somehow they can put us in these newer phones without making us change our rate plans. I mean we have the unlimited data, so I just don't get why (other than there must be some SOC code) from preventing us to stay on the same plan.

I also wish that HTC would do a bit more testing on some of these WMO devices, because for me it seems like since the Mogul they ALL have consistent issues that keeps them in the service centers and insurance claims. I know people who have had other type of phones for years w/o any issues other than maybe needing a new battery. Blackberry is a good example, as well as the iphone (not the new one).

Re: Touch Pro 2 no longer available through Asurion

FYI: Took my TP2 into the store because it was acting up and I was offered a refurb. I went back 2 days later and the refurb's keyboard was not working well. So I was given a brand New In Box TP2 right there.

Re: Touch Pro 2 no longer available through Asurion

Called Asurion yesterday because my backup Diamond's vibrate motor stopped working. Was offered a Palm Pixi but said I wanted a phone comparable to my last one, i.e. Windows Mobile. I said the only one I saw was a TP2. She came back after a minute on hold and said a TP2 was on the way. FWIW....

Like what for example? Employee services has always been good for me, with a couple exceptions. Im curious what you mean by "get what they want" though.

Well thankfully there's no talk of "doubling" our rate plans or cancelling SERO any time soon. The talk I hear of Sprint "wanting to move people off SERO" comes from the community, not from Sprint. Sure there are limitations with SERO. So what? There's limitations for SOME phone or SOME plan on every carrier. Its part of the business.

Well, hardware releases (and software for that matter) are a double edged sword. On one hand, the public cries for fast release. Hell, look at the ROM threads (Bigmaxsense for example). Its in developement, and sooo many people are like "Come on man release it! We know it has bugs but we want to play with it!". Then, when its released, you get the "Why was it released before working out the bugs first?" crowd. Hardware is the same thing.

i like your outlook on this.. save a few dollars a year... saving money no matter how small always sounds good to me

Yes absolutely My contract runs out in 2 months or less so it's nice to have a brand new phone right before...

It's not a question of "some" phones. It's a question of all major new smartphones in the last couple years (and even some moderately intelligent phones like the Instinct). To anyone who is on a smartphone, you don't go back. If Sprint it no longer going to have a current smartphone available for purchase or replacement that can be used on SERO, I would say that qualifies as a sign that Sprint is "wanting to move people off SERO." If indeed the TP2 can't be obtained from Asurion anymore, we're getting closer to the point where staying on SERO may not be as much of an option even with the same phone if it breaks. And the TP2 is likely to be discontinued by the end of the year, so we're approaching a point where not only can't people move forward to a newer phone, but where replacements can only be found on ebay. To me that seems like a pretty strong strategy to move people off of SERO.

Most people -- smartphone users especially -- don't want to use the same phone for more than a year or two these days. It's silly to suggest that giving us no options, even to replace a lost or broken phone, is anything less than a strategy to get rid of us.
