Re: Goodbye TP2

Kind of on the same boat here. I've been loyal WinMo supporter, but I think that WinMo cannot compete with Android right now. Evo, in my opinion has superior software (I know a lot of you will disagree with me), and superior hardware (which I am sure everyone will agree with me).

I am not planning to ditch TP2. I need a GSM phone for overseas and this will do great. Eventually, I am thinking about giving TP2 to my girlfriend, who's with MetroPCS. Just need to read up on converting it to MetroPCS first.

I have a number of reasons I want to switch.
- Faster CPU. Enough said.
- A phone that does not lock up.
- A phone that won't simply turn off all of a sudden (yesterday, I found it off 6 times during the course of a day. Battery was over 50%)
- More apps. And without outrageous WinMo marketplace pricing.

I will miss hardware keyboard. My first exposure to touch only phone was HTC Touch (Vogue), and I hated punching out SMS with a stylus. I've tried coworker's HD2 and texting was relatively easy. I am sure I can adjust.

Re: Goodbye TP2

Not jumping on any bandwagon to dump my tp2.. Glorified iphone style no way... keep stuff off thats not needed on tp2 and it runs great. no issues with phone turning off n on.. Suppose its all in what you use it for.

I agree about the CPU, but the faster processor will also mean worse battery life. I'm hoping they find some way to balance it out cause if it sucks, I will NOT switch.

Lockups & power issues are often software-related. I'm running Mr. X's rom & even with multiple hacks & programs installed, I rarely have problems like this.

Do you seriously buy apps from the marketplace? Dude... I have like 20 or 30 apps on my phone, and I've only paid for 1 or maybe 2. Not saying I pirate, but you can find legit free software all over the internet.

Re: Goodbye TP2

OP, I am happy that you have found a phone that works the way you need it. That is what is all boils down to. For me, I love the hardware of the EVO but am not sold on Android. The one thing the OS has going for it is the Linux based kernel. But I am not a fan of how Google implemented all their apps into the OS. I am also not a fan of storing files in the cloud. I will keep an open mind when it comes to Android. The reason is I do not see myself upgrading to WP7. So WM6.5 will be the last OS I will use until something changes. I do see the Android community becoming just like WM community when it comes to flashing new roms. With everyone having to Root their phones to get features of the phone Google intended, there will be many custom roms for users to download.

Re: Goodbye TP2

You can run androind on your tp2 so why switch? I tested the android and seriously warn anyone who switches .
1)has no file explorer so when you download alot of stuff its a mess to get to what you want
2)battery drains super fast
3)Not as customizable so your stuck
and the killer for me
4)When new innovative apps are present you must update or get upgrade to even use it.
Now that said there some good points but overall I have both on 1 phone now why trade and have only 1 phone? Good luck thou hope you enjoy it and your welcome back to the touchpro2 family any time. See you soon hahaha

Re: Goodbye TP2

Ugh, the more I read about the shortcomings of Android, the more I be eyein' the HD2 with pleasure... I wish they'd come out with a Sprint version. I really don't wanna go to T-Mo.
