First of all I'm running Stock Sprint 6.5 with the only major change being Co0kies home tab.
I installed HTC Task Manager (The drop down task manager) because I missed it from the 6.1 build. Upon installing it I noticed a significant decrease in WinMo performance. Slow response time for touch input and overall HTC Sense became very laggy. I was also having my device lock up, where I couldn't turn the screen on or off and the only ways I could get a response out of it was if I pulled out my stylus and put it back in, which would light up the front face buttons and not the screen. Or actually call my Touch Pro 2 from another phone. Calling my phone seemed to be the best option other than yanking out the battery or waiting a few minutes and trying again.

Read my post HERE, Then scroll down to the next post below it.
What I did from there was as I already explained and after doing so my free memory increased and lag decreased.

I'm not sure what build of HTC task manager I've used but I'm so past it now I don't even care for going back. Hot keying the task manager FTW.

I basically have nothing installed (some notification tweak cabs, swype, some games etc...but not spinballs, not cookie home tab) and nothing else that other people have pointed to as the cause.

8:30 I just tried something and I'm having slight success. I disabled the automatic backlight and turn off display settings. I have successfully (over a period of ten minutes) turned off the screen, waited a few minutes, and turned it back on with one single press. I will test it today and see what happens.

9:30 just going on a whole hour of no "auto backlight" and no "auto off" settings, and things seem to be working well.

Re: power button issues on 6.5?

Just to rule out possible other causes...

I had the exact same symptoms, and it turns out a board was loose in the base of the phone (the half that has the keyboard). No screen backlight, though I could hear rings, pick up the phone, etc. In my case if I pressed on the connectors where the power or headset jacks are, the screen would magically come on. Called Verizon and they overnighted me a new phone. If you get these issues again, you can see if this is the problem by pressing a headset or the power plug firmly into the base and see if the screen magically appears.

Re: power button issues on 6.5?

I don't have the stop flip clock cab. I kinda like the flipping.
lol.
Mine just won't respond... I press the power button and nothing comes up on the screen. But the hard keys do light up. So the phone responds just not the screen. Soft reset takes care of the issue till it happens again. Hopefully someone figures it out.

I installed the Stock Sprint Rom a day after it was released. I have experienced this bug one time since then (just recently unfortunately). However, I cant recall experiencing this ever with the prior ROM.

It went to sleep mode (dark screen) and would not come on when I pressed power. I was sitting at a restaurant and had just checked it. It didn't respond to a long press to reset either. I ended up just taking the battery out real quick.

Currently running Stock ROM and Touch Pro 2 Cleanup Cab. For testing purposes, the only other cabs i have installed are latest Task Manager and a popular custom taskbar icon cab. No other SenseUI modifications, no Cookie Home Tab...

Re: power button issues on 6.5?

I noticed this too since I installed stock VZW 6.5 rom. I'm not running any of the programs you guys mentioned. I did notice today that initializing voice command from the bt headset seems to wake it up without a soft reset. Hope this means something to someone...

Re: power button issues on 6.5?

I am running Sprint 6.5 with MS 3.5 and this happens atleast 2 a week. Soft reset is the only option for me.

Re: power button issues on 6.5?

Since my previous post I have not had it happen either. I even tried to reproduce the "spinball pause" situation with no luck. Hmmm odd. I was able to get it to reproduce fairly consistently before and now nothing.

Re: power button issues on 6.5?

DITTO!! I am having the same problem. I'm up to having to press the power button NUMEROUS times to get the phone to wake up again. I've had to press it over 15 times sometimes, and there is no reason. I've also had trouble with the phone booting up Sense. It seems like it takes a long time after a reboot. I'm taking it into a store today to get some answers.
