Re: Dr. Squishy reviews Energy ROM, Mighty ROM

OMG, this has to be the funniest post I've ever read & I agree totally with 95% of it.

I have always hated the "search nazis" that refuse to answer a noobs question. They are the same DB's that are always begging someone to "thank" them.

I run an NRG ROM, but it is an early enough version that I didn't run into the nbh problem. I know the answer, but come on -it really has been posted 150 times but that just tell me that there should be an FAQ with the DL to explain to noobs how to use the damn thing. Whoever came up with that "punch ROM" joke is the ultimate AH in my opinion. (it really annoys me that people would rather ridicule a newb than just provide simple clear instructions with the DL, how hard would that be??) That is exactly the arrogant attitude that turns off newbs & is not what we should be all about here.

I'm not like the posters here who flash 6 times a week as a hobby. I do IT admin & I'm way too busy for that nonsense (although I see nothing wrong with it if you have the time). I have flashed a TON of ROMs over the years, but when I find one that runs perfectly with all my many apps etc, I stop flashing & back it up with SPB Backup & leave it alone.

I got to that point in the TP2 when I tried the Dec 17th NRG Dusk ROM

At that point, every single thing in my system worked perfectly (SMS/MMS -Sling Mobile-Sirius-Coreplayer-GPS-YouTube sound-incoming call ringer-WMWifirouter-Pandora-nanoGroove-NFS Undercover g-sen-SPB Time etc etc etc etc) & I have left it on that ROM ever since.

I don't see any reason to ever upgrade the ROM in this phone again, but when I get my next phone it will all start over again............

yes there is a search function. I've had very little luck using it, unless i know exactly what I was looking for.
I totally agree with you.

Although I did finally figure it out, I bet I was on this site for six months before I ever got a meaningful search result (& all the search flaming just causes newbs to be paranoid about asking for help)

I would never answer a noob by saying "use the search function" instead of simply providing them a link to whatever they need help with.

Funny thing is the guys that do all the flaming have reputations of like 10, because they never help. They take the time to post some smart remark instead of just posting the answer or a link. If you know exactly were something is why not just link it. They all need to sit back and think "how would I want someone to respond if it was me?"

I have a number of posted saved in my "Favorites" in the header on the site. That's how I find common answers so fast, and I post a link. The reality is no one likes a smart ass punk, so save it for school.

Anyway...for your info try out Deck. The larger rom guys are good to start with but the smaller guys are for the real geeks that know exactly what the avg geeker needs.
DECK...SsS-9 is sick it is quick and doesnt have anything you dont want or need. Period try it.....
Yes! I'm using the S3 rom by Deck and its amazing! Love lol I would be considered a noob myself considering i'm a new TP2 owner and this is my first ppc also but I did my homework before I got it. I lurked around trying to select what rom I wanted to try. Not until I got my TP2 I came across the s3 rom. I flashed from my sd card and i was in love right away. I only added a bunch of apps and tweaks for my own tastes but as far as the rom..it simply works.

Well said, we all need to appreciate this for what it was... a fantastically written piece of comedy!

Yes there was some biting satire, and I think we've all tried to ask a polite question and been told to find the answer in a 579 page thread.

So, here here Mr. Squishy and welcome!

noob..lol
I'd say all the people who aren't making their own roms aren't very bright . Making a rom is pretty easy. You take things other people develop (HTC, MS, people at xda who actually make mods, etc.) and use tools someone else developed (bepe, ervius, etc.) to put them together. People seem to think making ROMs requires magic or something.

Good read Squishy! I remember when I first got my phone being all excited when mike (had to be his ROM...it had the most posts...must be the best ) was going to release a new rom (at MIDNIGHT no less!). Then I learned how to make my own and now I just look back and laugh lol.

Re: Dr. Squishy reviews Energy ROM, Mighty ROM

OMG Squishy that was so funny!
U should been a writer instead of phd.
then you could get another poor noob to flash your phone for you.

For super-noob or people that cant read much or dont like search button so they luv 2 ask many redundant questions, we should just politely lead them to their answer without complainin...

THEN we could hit them with the "Uber-Noob" button shaped like a dunce hat!
It would keep count of how many dummy points they have, and could only be erased by "thanks" points...

Yeah, that would make evryone happy, would it?
haha

Edit: limit one dummy point per post, with included buzzer sound on recipiets end.. ha
