Re: Swype 3.9. I need some help from the pros.

was hoping that one cab install was enough...but mine is in the middle of a hard reset...*sigh*

for the few moments running the "new" swype...I DO like the larger keys. So I for one definitely would LIKE to see this working...

Perhaps you should try this one.
This Swype Is optimized for the HTC HD 2 at least that's what I've been told . But perhaps it'll work on your device aswell.
Contains these languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish.

Re: Swype 3.9. I need some help from the pros.

Most of these versions still use that TEXT FILE... in fact I think the HD2 version posted above also has that text file needed... I'm not even going to try anything else since the first attempt messed up my phone.....

Re: Swype 3.9. I need some help from the pros.

Here's what I did and its working fine now.

1. Installed the fixed cab that includes the text file.
2. After doing 1., it broke my data connection, MMS, and email accounts.
3. I reinstalled my provisioning cab and my MMS cab and then used the previously posted executable to fix my email accounts.
4. Been using the new swype ever since.

New version rocks. I would imagine if this is the first thing you install after a flash, before provisioning and setting up email accounts, then you will not have the problems I had. This version also fixed the auto-complete in text messages where before you had to type the contact name then hit backspace to delete a character before the contacts would show up. Seems to be faster also with larger keys for easier input. Word completion seems to work better also, as does remembering what I've previously typed.

Just my 2cents.

Re: Swype 3.9. I need some help from the pros.

I dont trust the new version at all. it broke a lot of things.. I also think it messed up my backlight settings and who knows what else. I am not going to use it even though I like it better then the 2.0 version...

2.0 works fine for me and I'm afraid to try the latest.
I have faith someone smart then me will be able to incorporate a one cab fix that doesnt break the radio...
Look at what they said about Sense 2.5 Landscape mode!

yes 2.0 works for me as well. I wont go to any 3.9 version that still says it has the text file in it

I got it to run nice but I lose the use of my physical keyboard after a few minutes.

Re: Swype 3.9. I need some help from the pros.

Tried Swype 3.9 on my HD2 and while there are some improvements in terms of layout and key size, it's actually quite unusable for me because the "hold for alternate character/symbol" function doesn't work properly.

I find myself having to aim for the upper right corner of a key (where the alternate character is displayed) just to get it working. This makes writing symbols very inconvenient.

Swype 2.0 doesn't have this problem so back on that one for now until they fix the hold key issue, as well as the problem that typing too fast makes the keyboard think you're swiping (admittedly 2.0 has the same problem)
