Swype 3.9. I need some help from the pros.

I tried to install it on an Eten X800 WM 6.1 (VGA), at first start after soft-reset following message:
"The Swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality"...

I can use the swype keyboard to type, but can only type in letter by letter, when I try to "swype" over the letters, it draws the blue line and just beeps. When I go to options, the drop down menu with the languages is empty...

BTW, I installed the Fixed-Swype-HTCBlackBird-3.9.10.10.5032...Just installed it, no further action...

Sharing my experience for the benefits of others.

My device is a TP2.

(A) Note the following on how I got it working:

1. Install non combined cab version 3.9
2. SR
3. Use Resco Explorer to copy ModelName.txt to \windows
4. SR

(B) Following was how I first started and cause problem

1. Install fixed (or combined cabs version)
2. Manually changed input to swype (when I was in resco explorer)
3. SR
4. All hell break loose.
5. Uninstalled and SR
6. Use the steps marked as (A) to make it work.

I got the same problem on my Omnia II. Previous version i.e. from Verizon Omnia II worked fine on my device. I wanna try this new one so anyone has any idea/solution?

after you copy that file you phone is messed up... TRUST me.. everyone on here is saying they have it working but trust me your phone is messed up.. maybe you dont see it yet but it is.. I had to re-provision and fix email accounts...

The modelname check is somewhere in Swype.dll I think. The only other files in the package are text/image files that I can tell. I tried to get rid of the Setup.dll and another dll that was related to setup.dll and swype installs fine, but I still got the stupid popup about not functioning properly and it doesn't work. I'll continue working on it unless someone else can figure it out first.

Its going to do more mess then you think.. I think this is what messed up the ability to have the FACEBOOK APP (the stand alone one not the one from TF3D) not save my username and password correctly.. I am not sure though.. trust me, until someone gets a fix, take it off. If you are on a cooked rom, you can follow my instructions to fix your data, carrier specific programs etc (since cooked roms have a provisioning cab). you will also need to use the FIX EMAIL program I mentioned a few posts ago. Those of you on stock rom, HARD RESET is the only way...

Just fyi imnuts....supposedly Nrgy's new release has it cooked in......supposed to be released sometime today....may help ya out when it shows its face...

thx for the advice, tried your way, result is the same...

besides the problem that i cannot choose a language in the options menu of swype, there is no modelname displayed in the options menu...In the previous version of swype that i had installed before, there WAS a modelname dispalyed there (think it was omnia xy)
so it seems that swype does not manage to get the modelname out of the modelname.txt (guess because my device originally has no modelname.txt in windows folder contrary to htc devices)

I think imnuts is on the right track...
