HTC WiFi Router

Sorry if this has been addressed, but I couldn't quite find a definitive answer.

Running a basically brand new TP2, Sprint stock rom, with clean up installed. I installed the cab with no problems, and I can get it to open and run fine. It connects to Sprint and says that it's ready for connections. My wifi router and the one on the laptop see it, and connect to it. However once connected, the internet doesn't seem to work. Anyone experience anything similar to this and possibly found a fix for it?

Much appreciated.

Re: HTC WiFi Router

does your phone show an active data connection by your signal bars when you run wifi sharing? if it doesn't try opening opera and then minimize it and then run wifi sharing

Re: HTC WiFi Router

It switches between inactive and active quite a bit. I had already tried forcing to stay active by surfing a bit on the phone, but still no wifi success.

Re: HTC WiFi Router

I personally use WmWiFirouter, It cost me 20 bucks back when I had a Mogul, then a TP now the TP2. I load the install cab then my key cab. Two minutes of loading 2 cabs and following the setup and I got my hotspot with no issues, I can use bluetooth, wifi, or usb. It has worked flawlessly for me for over 2 years now.

Re: HTC WiFi Router

HTC Wifi Router doesn't work for me either. Same as OP: Sprint Touch Pro 2, stock firmware, connects or comes close ("limited connectivity"), but won't permit Internet sharing.

The commercial WMWifiRouter works better (on trial), but is relatively expensive. It handles Wifi and USB, but not Bluetooth, which is grayed out.

Re: HTC WiFi Router

I wonder whether WMWifiRouter deliberately goofs up the Internet settings so that simpler Internet sharing programs won't work.

PSP's and PS3's both cannot connect to ad-hoc networks. That is the type of network that Wifi Router creates so unfortunately you can't connect them. This is a pretty big fail for sony. I can connect it to my xbox just fine which comes in handy occasionally.

This might be an android os question more than a wifirouter question, but I can't find a clear answer anywhere, so trying here.

I have use the htc wifrouter program for a while now. It connects flawlessly on any windows laptop I try it with and works very well. I run a stock 6.5 Sprint ROM. Anyway, I tested an Archos 7 tablet (it has the not-so-latest version of android on it) and I can't get a connection using htc wifirouter. The A7 connects fine on my home wireless router but when trying to use htc wifirouter, the A7 "sees" the network, but says it is out of range, even if I put the two about 6 inches apart. I'm sure it has to do with the adhoc connection that the htc wifirouter puts out, but I don't see any way to reconfigure the network connection on the android A7 unit. Does anyone know anything about android and whether this can be done?
Thanks much!
