Does it only disconnect or does data connection stop too? Also, what rom and radio are you using?
I wouldnt think heat would do it... and its really not that hot when it cuts it.

It only stops the data connection, the wifi connection is still established. To get it to work again, I have to go to the wifi router, tap "Stop", wait for it to stop, then start it up again...

ROM: MightyROM Full Force
Radio: 2.23.00WV

ok so what disconnects is the data connection and not the actual wifi router connection...

Which connection does your HTC wifi router usually connects to? Phone as modem? or Verizon (on sprint phones its Sprint, don't know other one for verizon)...example if you connect to phone as modem and then you have something activate verizon connection it may cause that...

Also try getting a data connection first via browser then connect using the wifi router.

Really appriciate it doc, just got off the phone with htc...she found the program im referring to and stated it was originally for the European market! Doesnt really explain why it works for some and not others here in the US tho. As for me, the program installs fine, connects to the network fine, but just isnt seen by either of my laptops. No errors, no problems, just doesnt seem to work. Ive tried the exe and cab version, same results on both. wmwifirouter works exactly as you would expect, both laptops see the network immediately and connect with great stability, even streaming video for hours. Speedtest.net results are almost always 120ms latency, 1.5mb down and 400k up. Not bad, but still using the trial version. So, Doc, is there a wifi program for my wm6.1 phone that is free?

Any thoughts at all are appriciated

Re: HTC WiFi Router

I am, icon is labeled wifiinternetsharing, and yep I tried the cab version. It installs fine and the icon appears without me doing a soft reset (though I have anyway in my trouble-shooting travels)

Re: HTC WiFi Router

The proper one that is working for most ppl can be found here (yes it is the black antenna blue background):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538874

Look @ post #13 on page 2 of the thread if you want the cab that installs a Program Shortcut in your start menu.

I tested it out last night on my XP Netbook & it worked flawlessly.
Only thing is the TP2's screen stays lit the entire time.
So if you turn the screen off, the Wifi will disconnect.

Back on topic:
There is another thread on here today that addresses the browser connection issue.
For some of you who can see & connect to this available 'wifi router' but cannot get IE browser to connect...it suggests it has to do with the caching of the 'old' settings.

May want to check that out.

I think it might be that Im using a touch diamond 1. Tried with both xp and my win7 machine, but this versions didnt work Thanks for trying....think ill do some research on the xda site, but Im beginning to wonder if its my phone being as most that Ive seen have the pro or touch 2. Luckily wmwifi does work like a champ, but that savings of $30 will be worth a little more research
