Do you have the source of that cab?

I think it would help ppl out who are unsure about which cab to use if they see the original threads that directly addresses some of these issues they maybe having.

Ver 1.2.20 was used in TMartins kitchen , I didn't know how to package it up into a cab from his file, so I looked for it in cab form on the net, this one came from a TP2 Freza Rom as an add on. really don't have much of a link, I can try and dig it up.

Look @ post #13 on page 2 of the thread if you want the cab that installs a Program Shortcut in your start menu.

I tested it out last night on my XP Netbook & it worked flawlessly.
Only thing is the TP2's screen stays lit the entire time.
So if you turn the screen off, the Wifi will disconnect.


Back on topic:
There is another thread on here today that addresses the browser connection issue.
For some of you who can see & connect to this available 'wifi router' but cannot get IE browser to connect...it suggests it has to do with the caching of the 'old' settings.

May want to check that out.

I think it might be that Im using a touch diamond 1. Tried with both xp and my win7 machine, but this versions didnt work Thanks for trying....think ill do some research on the xda site, but Im beginning to wonder if its my phone being as most that Ive seen have the pro or touch 2. Luckily wmwifi does work like a champ, but that savings of $30 will be worth a little more research

Keep trying on that thread! Post 3 there has a list of handsets that work with testimonials.

No, since the network never shows theres no way to enter that info. Did set up my own key and named the network after the default key and name werent showing up, but it just doesnt appear on the puter. Also made sure the lappies are looking for both types

I installed the HTC WiFi Sharing cab and upon first try it worked great. But after doing a soft reset it now just hangs on 'waiting for connection' and my WiFi icon in the task bar keeps going nuts. In the WiFi menu my sharing network will show up for a minute then go away. After a few minutes the wifi stops spazzing out but the wifi sharing app still just sits and spins on 'waiting for connection'.??

Oh I have since tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried the originial HTC Wi-Fi Sharing.cab and the HTC WiFi Router 1.2.2.0 but after that first go around I can't seem to get it to work. I have checked the registry and all settings are as they should be from what I can read from the _setup.xml file. All program files also seem to be in place.

Just tried that one and still the same thing. It's strange that it worked once (well actually twice) then now nothing. I changed the Network name and passcode after the first "test run" which worked worked. The only thing I noticed on that run was that the network name was still the default one on my laptop. It was then that I soft reset, hoping to maybe refresh it so that it broadcast the new name. Then it stopped working after that.
