Re: HTC WiFi Router

Side note, I can tether just fine. I used the ICS_and_WModem_Fix.cab for that, but that was a couple of days ago with a few softresets in between before installing the WiFi cab. So between that and the fact that it worked one (and a half) times I don't think the tethering fix broke the WiFi.

I can also connect my phone to my home network with no problems so I don't think it's a WiFi issue either...

I've thought about hard resetting and starting over since I've only had it for a week now but I've done alot to it already that I don't want to have to redo and it's a work phone so am nervous about changing to a custom ROM

Re: HTC WiFi Router

I have the same experience. Try to connect in different areas (office or other places). Mine is connected fine at home but internet drop after 2 minutes. I figure it out that my house area is not EVDO area (although the EV icon is there) but it disapear once connected. See post here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...weird+internet

Still no luck, I tested it from my office (which I know for a fact is a 3G/EVDO area and it still hangs at "Ready to accept connections"

Until I got this, I had tried almost everything to get my PC connected to use my phones internet. I do not have any other form of internet since cable & DSL dont have service here yet. I am far from being in the boonies. I havve a decent signal most the time (1 - 3 bars). I have even had service with no bars. I am using a D-Link Wifi USB dongle on my PC. I set the network up with no problem at all. It found it , and connected. It will stay connected to wifi about half the time. Here is my trouble. I can be browsing the internet on my PC, when suddenly there is no connection. I look on the phone and the thing has disconnected and a "
Connecting to..." message appears with the little animated ring. It will NOT reconnect to Wifi unless I hit STOP ...wait.. then press "Start" again. Often, It will have stopped.... yet again. A couple times I hit Stop and it sat there for 5 minutes saying "Stopping" but never stopped. Those 2 times I had to kill the Wifi app in Task Man and then reload it. I cannot figure this out. Often times it will work for a few hours straight.. other times it gives me frequent disconnects. What is going on with this app? I dont know if its on the PC side or the phone side.. or even some BS with Verizon. But I cant see why the Wifi would disconnect.

For those of you who have trouble with the app finding your wifi network, make sure your wifi is Wireless G or backwards compatible with G. The phone uses an 802.11g/b network. If you are using a wireless-N network on your PC, thats probably the reason why it cant see it. Also, make sure you have installed the Internet Sharing hack. Sprint is known for block this, as with Verizon. You may also have to disable the service "CM Guardian" or set it to manual start. To do this, I highly suggest you download FDC Task Manager. It's free and IMO is the BEST damn TM app I have ever used. It has access to services.
Sorry to resurrect a semi-old thread (6 weeks)... but i didnt want to start a new one with the same info...

Im having this exact same issue. Every so often, the data will jsut disconnect, thus eliminating my internet connection on my laptop. A couple posts after this one I quoted, someone mentions that it might be cuz its hot... does anyone have any other ideas to what causes this? Its not signal quality cuz ive got full Ev coverage.

heat does not cut off the signal..unless your phone gets hot stops charging and turns off...

Does it only disconnect or does data connection stop too? Also, what rom and radio are you using?
