I rarely need flash on my phone so like brownhornet said I will sacrafice flash for the many positives of android. When winmo 7 comes then we can have a real discussion about OS' obviously not with you guys because some of you don't think winmo needs a change, even though iPhone has only 1 single phone and has been around for only about 5 years while winmo has been around for decades. That report salty put up is sad that winmo has lost marketshare to the iPhone is embarrassing with the head start that microsoft had. But yet he thinks that report is in his favor. That report definitely shows Microsoft needs a change of pace and fast.

there is not a compelling fully 3G android device on any carrier except tmobile (nexusone) at this time. the problem android faces is by the time contracts for casuals are open there will be substantially improved competition from windows phones, nevermind iPhone. palm is better for women & casuals than android android is also basically free to carriers so if you can't sell FREE then what the heck can you sell? |

Man, I have never seen anyone talk so much without actually saying anything. By the way- palm has almost 3 times the marketshare of Android right now. And that was while it was only on 1 carrier, and that carrier was SPRINT. |

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
i agree with both of you in that wm needs overhauling (see wp7) but also wm6.5 does not limit the average person buying a smartphone (in 2010+ more people will buy smartphones and do less with them then ever before except simply check facebook, email and basic browsing). HARDWARE (phones lack of cpu, program memory and internal storage) & CARRIERS limit smartphone users more than any phone OS does today.
remember carriers now force data plans on basic media phones... this means more dumb smartphone buyers ![]() we all know WM6.x needs improving and wm6.5.3 missed the holiday deadline. none of this is particularly important long-term though, only makes for boring blogger fanboy debates. Andoid is limited WM6.x is limited iPhone is limited (but easy for casuals) Palm is limited (but easy for casuals) Rim is now attracting casuals we all see a pattern yet? marketshare is not a great indicator of anything either. iPhone might be the smallest marketshare (due to carrier & price restriction) in a few years yet the most profitable to carrier (att) and marketplace. the better question is what will improve more substantially in late 2010 & 2011... android or windows phone? you should hold off this conversation until next Monday when WP7 is said to be announced hopefully with some actual devices (although that seems more likely for summer) Quote:

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
i think our point is that you really haven't proved that android is better, only different and in some respects, worse.
it does not do everything that winmo does, yet.... you haven't named one thing that android can do that winmo can't. yes, the nexus one and droid has better hardware, but that doesn't make android better. the perfect test would be to take the 2 of the same phones, one running winmo the other android and video them side by side doing the same tasks. (i know, i am dreaming). and it has nothing to do with being a fanboy. name a better phone on sprint right now, than the tp2? |

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
if i'm browsing the web and i see an app for android that i want, all i have to do is point my android phone at the barcode on the screen and guess what, my android will automatically download that app without me searching for it thru the marketplace. have you tried google goggles or google sky? the fact that android 2.1 has free gps maps. these are the simple things i'm talking about. winmo 6.5 can do these same things, but its easier on droids. The search feature (voice and text) and how its built into every application and the phone itself is amazing. The list with droids and how they simply your life goes on and on, it would be like writing a documentry. All i would have to do to get more ammo would be to go into the forums and look at all the ridiculous help that people need, winmo 6.5 is complicated for no reason.

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
salty here is the report man, i feel like i'm arguing with an incompotent.
where do you get added 5x? windows rose to 7, dropped to 6.6, then in october when windows 7 was released went to 7.1. this whole time android was doing nothing but rising and to 1 million at that, still selling the g1. This is NOT a good report for winmo, not in the least. "Apple's iPhone has topped Microsoft's Windows Mobile in U.S. market share of smartphone operating systems for the first time, putting it in the No. 2 spot, according to a report from ComScore released Thursday. In February, 5.2 million respondents to ComScore's survey reported using Apple's iPhone, while 6.8 million reported using phones running Microsoft's Windows Mobile, according to a report on FierceDeveloper. ComScore, a market research firm, averages results in a three-month period. In May, Apple's number rose to 5.7 million, then 6.6 million in July, and finally to a high of 8.9 million for October, the most recent period for which results are available. In comparison, Microsoft rose in May to 7 million, dropped in July to 6.6 million, and went back up in October to 7.1 million. The highest market share numbers in the survey go to Research In Motion's BlackBerry. It registered 9.6 million in February, 12.2 million in May, 13 million in July, and 14.9 million in October. It's interesting to note that Palm's number rose from 2.3 million to 2.8 million in 2009, and Google's Android operating system rose to a high of 1 million by October. " |
