WiMax i don't think will fail, at the worst it just won't be as popular as LTE and for the records HSPA is not better then sprints 4g. If it was so much better why would they even need to go to LTE????
youre confusing what i'm saying. Currently tmobile has 3gs which currently as we speak does 7.2 mbps. Mid year without having to purchase any new device they will have hspa+ which does 21mbps. Now the new thing is wimax which is pushing out up to 10mbps, but they still don't have any devices, and the new thing for all the other companies next year will be lte which does up to 100mbps.

I didn't look at the portland test, I don't even know what you're talking about but when you go on sprints website it says max output for wimax is 10mbps with average speeds between 3-6.

its just like the comparison someone else made earlier about blue ray and hd/dvd. the 3 strongest companies verizon, att, and tmobile (who all get the newest phones) are going lte, and the struggling company is going wimax, who do you think will win? if you were a company and had to support one, which would you choose.

that word put a hurt on my heart when i seen that ....but how long will it remain exclusive will be the key question. But they aren't releasing it until the spring, which mean sprint wouldn't of probably gotten it until the summer. By then there will be either a TP3 or something even better then the HD2 im sure, andit may even come with Windows mobile 7 and be wimax compatiable . Wishful thinking

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

Now someone needs to create a thread so we know what we will be losing by giving up the tp2. The only things i can think of are keyboard (the biggest one to give up) and speakerphone. I believe everything else is an upgrade.

if someone is grandfathered into some ridiculous plan like that, then of course it would be extremely hard to leave, but its not like that plan is around anymore for new customers. No one knows how long you will be able to be grandfathered into that old plan and receive new phones. With Sprint all the hottest phones require SEP, so you will be stuck with 2nd rate phones just to keep your plan. Once wimax hits i'm almost positive all sero plans will not work with that service but of course it might. Winmo doesn't usually require a plan change but as you've seen Sprint doesn't have very many winmo phones. They still don't have an all touch screen winmo 6.5 capable phone. Sprints coverage, sero plans, and some grandfathered plans are extremely nice but Sprint by far has the weakest line up. Sprint has the weakest android line up (hero and moment are weak compared to ervius and droid), weakest blackberry line up (att had tour and curve like 5 months before sprint, verizon has the storm2). Sprint is last with blackberry, droid, and winmo, if youre as tech savvy as i am this is highly upsetting. For people who arent grandfathered into some insane package Sprint doesn't even have the cheapest plans anymore.

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

This is interesting, i was looking at what seems like a pretty mocked up photo but whats curious is how accurate it is, showing the branches for development for the builds althought believe WM 6.5 has 5 branches now
