I don't have to go to country X, I just have to go to ebay. 100% of them work with voice and EDGE, and probably better than 90% of them work with 3G too. The fact that you are arguing against this just shows who really has an open mind here. It's only been recently that devices stopped having USA 3G support. And I mean very recently- as in the Touch Pro was the first HTC device that didn't have it. And that's not an issue now anyway, since AT&T is now using the same 3G bands as Australia. So just about every device on that list works on AT&T's 3G, with maybe a handful that don't. You can't grasp this, but it doesn't change the fact- GSM gets way better, and way more devices than CDMA. Period. And the LTE versus WiMax will be MUCH worse, because at least CDMA had some other major carriers besides Sprint. |

I am not twisting things- he is wrong. Wimax has absolutely nothing to do with CDMA. Sprint still has CDMA, yes. So what the heck does that have to do with them getting a Wimax smartphone? |

GSM will always dominate the market because technology comes first out of the rest of the world, dominated by GSM. |

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
Honestly we've derailed and sidetracked so many times I don't even remember what the point is anymore. It has been a good debate and I've learned a few things along the way, but we really need to get back to the subject at hand.
PLEASE RESUME REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
Very true. Although I love carrier discussions, I hate that they all get placed into a different forum.
I would SO get the HD2 if it had a keyboard, because the rumor of it being updatable to Windows Mobile 7 makes me randy. But alas, a hardware keyboard is the best thing to happen to phones. I remember when my MDA was the only one amongst the people I knew to have a phone with a keyboard! |

Re: Who plans to go HD2?
basically you have gsm phones and cdma phones. its not going to be a situation where we have gsm, cdma, wimax, and lte. thats not the case. You will still have gsm vs cdma, what ever you want to use for the 3g coverage isn't going to implement a whole new line up of phones. on that situation this is my only point. if you thought i meant they were the exact same thing then i'm sorry.

I think you see where I'm going with that. We're talking about cell phones here. The radio is a pretty major part of it. Wimax is completely and totally different from CDMA. Sprint being CDMA won't help them get Wimax devices at all. It has nothing to do with it. |
