Re: Device Configuration and Hands Free Activation TP2 Errors

I'm having the same problem. I'd like to try the cab but don't seem to be able to.

When I plug the phone into my computer it's no longer recognized as an external drive so that I can copy the cab over. But even if I could copy it over the file explorer doesn't seem to recognize the micro sd card. I copied the cab to the sd card but it does me no good since the phone can't read from the card.

And of course I can't download the file to my phone because I can't use the Internet.

And suggestions on how I might run this file???

I am really freaked out because since I can't download or transfer files to my phone I'm worried Sprite backup isn't going to be an option for backing up my data. All I care about are my contacts & SMS. Is there any way to manually back these up? Are there specific files on the phone which I can copy?

In addition, removing the battery makes things worse for me. When I remove the battery and restart I get a screen of death kind of message telling me that the phone was improperly shut down and I have to do a soft reset. But of course I opt out of the hard reset.

Go into Activesync and put your device in disk drive mode and then plug into your pc and try retrieving files or do your backup.
The pim file in the root dir contains your contacts.

Then after doing your backup do a clear storage/hard reset.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Is there a file containing my SMS?

Doesn't putting the phone in disk drive mode simply allow me to read/write from the SD card rather than internal memory? That doesn't help me, the phone itself doesn't recognize the SD card so I can't write the pim file to the card or read the cab file from the card. Therein lies the problem.

The phone makes a bong sound when I insert the card but when I look at the SD card info the phone tells me there is no SD card. Very annoying.

Is it possible to plug the phone into the computer in a way that I can write directly to the phone's internal memory?

What about transferring files via bluetooth? Can I transfer to/from the phone's internal memory via BT? My Mac is the only computer I have w/ BT, can I transfer files via BT with a Mac?

Is there a file containing my SMS?

TIA!

Well, if you don't have the sdcard in then when you put it in disk drive mode and connect to your pc you can access files on your device.
I didn't think of this earlier but you might want to upload your contacts and I believe sms as well to Microsoft MyPhone. Then clear storage and restore files.

Sprint Tech Support told me to update my profile and PRL, which I did and did not help at all.

Last programs I installed were S2U2 and Advanced Task Manager, at least a week ago.
I can confirm, though I don't know why, S2U2 does seem to cause this issue. I've gone for months without an issue, then I'll get a wild hair and install s2u2 and bam, Ikll randomly get this out of nowhere. But! If I can manage to uninstall s2u2, and let it do the HFA.. magically, it goes away! I don't know why, but it's possible one of the things S2u2 does ends up corruping the modem profile. Maybe something for someone to look into?
