Re: Birthday Sync Problem: Displays 1 day earlier on phone compared to PC
Ok so the update in the first post works.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...gs-update.mspx Here is the direct link to the Dec update: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958729/ the link posted by mogulman01 is for the march 2008 update which has been updated to the dec 2008 updated as linked in this post. Before you sync you contacts, install the update via cab file then sync and the birthdays show up fine in manila. Correction: the birthdays outside of DST have been synced correctly but the ones within DST still are off. what a mess. Last edited by regulator207; 01-06-2010 at 03:21 AM. |

Re: Birthday Sync Problem: Displays 1 day earlier on phone compared to PC
this appears to be a widespread problem among multiple devices (iphone, android, and wm) here's a long thread at apple: http://discussions.apple.com/thread....t=150&tstart=0
I wonder if it's something inherently wrong with activesync? |

Re: Birthday Sync Problem: Displays 1 day earlier on phone compared to PC
I am so annoyed that I just want to get rid of my TP2 and get a blackberry!!! Not sure if Blackberry is bug free though...
So here's the what's going on. Say my friend "Mike" has April 3rd birthday. I go to Outlook 2007 and I input April 03 in the birthday field under "Mike" contact profile. The Calendar in Outlook gets automatically updated and says "Mike's Birthday" as an all day event on April 3rd. I sync to my TP2 and my TP2's caldendar says "Mike's Birthday" on April 3rd. Good. Then I go to contact in my TP2 and under "Mike", it says his birthday is April 2. No Good. As someone had mentioned it earlier, this has to be a DST issue. for any birthday before DST (which begins for most of the United States at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March), there's no problem. Everything shows correctly. But any birthday that occurs after DST, it's always one day earlier. Is there a fix yet? Anyone? Will everything be fixed once we enter DST? |

Re: Birthday Sync Problem: Displays 1 day earlier on phone compared to PC
I noticed the same thing, and the Microsoft DST patch didn't really seem to do much. Does everyone using the TP2 have this issue or is it just a select few?
My birthdays all fall on the correct day right now(Using VZW official 6.5), but during the DST shift this past fall all my b-days were off (not all of them, just certain ones) and I had to re-enter them. Also noticed some birthdays that fell on the first of the month (on my phone april and june) all showed up on Jan 1 instead. Still having this issue. An additional note that may help solve this issue Is when looking at birthdays in Microsoft My Phone, birthdays that occur during DST are marked 1 day early (April 1 is March 31) but those out of DST are correct (Dec 22 = Dec 22) But all still show up on the correct day on my phone right now. Just bad programming perhaps? If I was a better programmer I'd make a fix myself. If I make any further discoveries I will be sure to post them. Last edited by GDOG11324; 01-20-2010 at 12:25 PM. Re: Birthday Sync Problem: Displays 1 day earlier on phone compared to PC
Another discovery.
A birthday I have entered on June 24, shows up in the Touch Flo calendar on June 24, however in the contact information for that person (on the phone), the birthday is marked as being on June 23 (as well as on Microsoft My Phone). In outlook, the birthday is still marked as June 24. I entered all my birthday data in outlook 2007 on my PC and synchronized it using WMDC 6.1, all birthday occurrences were automatically added when I added the birthday data for the contact. Once again, all affected dates and contacts are birthdays that occur during the DST months. Last edited by GDOG11324; 01-20-2010 at 04:32 PM. Reason: Added more specific information. |
