Awesome - Thanks for the instructions and the icons. I always hated having to go through Jbed, then select Opera or Gmail from there. Also never cared for the Jbed icon. These icons make a great addition to my HTC Home launcher panel

Oh also - if you want to get rid of the connection permissions prompt that Jbed has whenever you try to connect to your data service, you can use this simple little program that patches your selector.utf file to automatically allow data access.

As a random note, I couldn't get my Opera shortcut to work, but had no problem with my Gmail shortcut.
Looking at selector.utf, I noticed that while my Gmail was set to suite 1, my opera was registered as suite -1.
So, my shortcut had to have s-1_
anyways, odd, but it could help someone else

I can't find my Operamini.jar. There's nothing in that file that has to do with Opera. There IS a suite file, but even when I use that number (0), I get an error that says 'suite_0 could not be found' and all I can do is dismiss. This happens when I put 1 in as well.

Any ideas?

Re: Full Opera Mini Shortcut + Icon

There is no operamini.jar file, the file will be named s#_suite.jar where the '#' is some number greater than or equal to one, depending on how many java apps you have installed. If you've only got the one suite.jar file in \Windows\appdb then I suspect something went amiss during the installation.

To the OP:

Thanks for this! I've been wondering how to create links to Java apps in general and this works like a charm.

However, I had a problem adding the path to the icon DLL in the shortcut. I was able to copy and modify the java.lnk file (using Total Commander), but no matter what I tried, adding the "?\Path\To\OperaIcon.dll,0" part after the s1_ just wouldn't take; when I reopened the shortcut that portion was not saved. After multiple attempts with the DLL in various locations I copied it to the filesystem root so I wouldn't have to enter a long path while trying to get it working and lo and behold Windows seems to find and associate the icon just fine without modifying the target. My target for the link is simply "\Windows\jeodek.exe" -run s1_ and the Opera icon shows up just fine!

I'm not sure how that bit of magic works so I tried moving the OperaIcon.dll just to see if this was really the case and WM *was not* happy with that and froze solid. Fortunately after a couple of soft resets I was able to get back into Total Commander to move the DLL file back to the root directory and all is well again. I suspect that in true Windows style it pollutes the registry with a bunch of nonsense (God, how I hate the registry).

Cheers,
Keith

Re: Full Opera Mini Shortcut + Icon

OK, sometimes I really do feel like Michael Bolton in "Office Space" (..I always mess up some minor detail....) so bear with me for a second.

I duplicated the java file, but when I navigate to it in TC and click on properties, I don't see anything to edit as suggested in the instructions, just some general descriptive items about the file. Any ideas?

Re: Full Opera Mini Shortcut + Icon

Click on the "Shortcut" tab at the top of the screen and you will (should) see a "Target" field. My target is simply:

"\Windows\jeodek.exe" -run s1_

with the OperaIcon.dll in the device root directory. As mentioned previously, the digit after the 's' will depend on how many Java apps you have installed and can only be determined by rooting around in your \Windows\adddb\ directory.

Cheers,
Keith

Re: Full Opera Mini Shortcut + Icon

Ive tried:

"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run s1_
"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run s0_
"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run s2_
"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run s3_

and I execute the gmail.ink file.

I get the error saying that I need to run the application associated with that file.
