Re: Full Opera Mini Shortcut + Icon

There is no operamini.jar file, the file will be named s#_suite.jar where the '#' is some number greater than or equal to one, depending on how many java apps you have installed. If you've only got the one suite.jar file in \Windows\appdb then I suspect something went amiss during the installation.

To the OP:

Thanks for this! I've been wondering how to create links to Java apps in general and this works like a charm.

However, I had a problem adding the path to the icon DLL in the shortcut. I was able to copy and modify the java.lnk file (using Total Commander), but no matter what I tried, adding the "?\Path\To\OperaIcon.dll,0" part after the s1_ just wouldn't take; when I reopened the shortcut that portion was not saved. After multiple attempts with the DLL in various locations I copied it to the filesystem root so I wouldn't have to enter a long path while trying to get it working and lo and behold Windows seems to find and associate the icon just fine without modifying the target. My target for the link is simply "\Windows\jeodek.exe" -run s1_ and the Opera icon shows up just fine!

I'm not sure how that bit of magic works so I tried moving the OperaIcon.dll just to see if this was really the case and WM *was not* happy with that and froze solid. Fortunately after a couple of soft resets I was able to get back into Total Commander to move the DLL file back to the root directory and all is well again. I suspect that in true Windows style it pollutes the registry with a bunch of nonsense (God, how I hate the registry).

Cheers,
Keith
