I copied using ActiveSync. First I downloaded the AudioPara.csv_coarse_ear_extended_speaker.txt file to my computer. Then I renamed it AudioPara.csv. Then I clicked the "Explore" button on ActiveSync. Went to the Mogul windows directory and backed up the original AudioPara.csv. Then dragged the new/coarse copy from my computer to the Mogul windows directory. Did a soft reboot, and the volume is much improved.

If the device says the file can't be overwritten, try doing a soft reset, then overwrite the file from your pc.

Still not getting access here. I have followed boreal's steps straight through but I am still getting the access denied statement. Tried the soft reset and no luck.

One thing though, when I first went through the steps I noticed that the renamed coarse ear file was staying in txt format. When I copied that one to the Mogul Windows directory, it did not replace the original. I went back and downloaded it again and saved it as a .csv file, instead of renaming it, and it stayed in that format.

Was it supposed to be transfered as a .txt file to your Windows directory? I was assuming that the replacement was to be identical in name and format. Just verifying.

That's because you haven't set your PC's file explorer to show extensions. Microsoft thinks it's in your best interest and sets it that way as default, which often causes frustration.

From your file explorer's top menu, select: Tools/Folder Options and the View tab. Scroll down and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". While there you might as well check "Show hidden files and folders".

Now you'll see your file extensions and will be able to modify them. As mentioned earlier, the easiest way to overwrite your device's AudioPara.csv file is to open two file explorer windows, one on your PC and one on your device's Windows folder through ActiveSync explore, drag and drop AudioPara.csv from your PC to the device.

EDIT: Make sure you Soft Reset your phone first and that no applications which use audio, such as the HTC Audio Player Home Plugin, are activated.

I'm having the same issue as well ! "access denied" when I copy the file or try to delete it.

I really appreciate the help but it still isn't working. I have also tried copying the new AudioPara file to my Storage device and trying to overwrite from there but still get Access Denied.

Any other ideas? I'm jonesing for this adjustment after hearing all the good results from others.....

I was getting the "Access Denied" message as well when I tried using activesync to browse to my phone's windows directory and copy the file over. I got around this by copying the file to my storage card with activesync.

I then went to the phone itself and copied the file from the storage card into the windows directory. I had no problems when copying using the phone itself (with total commander).

NOTE: If it helps and you don't know about it, MyMobiler is a freeware application that I've found very useful when working on my computer and wanting to get to my phone as well. I'm only plugging it here only because it has been convenient and useful for me, especially when copying this file over.

Did you use total commander (TC)? That's what I used and I had no problems... perhaps TC does something the normal file explorer doesn't? I didn't have to change any permissions, I just copied from the storage card in the phone to the windows directory.

OK. It looks like it did finally work after I installed Total Commander and copies it from the Storage Card. I thought the Resco explorer did the same thing as TC but apparently not.

I haven't noticed any jaw-dropping differences yet but I am in a pretty quiet area. Will pay attention to how it sounds over the next day or so.

Thanks again for all the help!
