Yes you are posting under the Alltel thread is your problem. Look here for Verizon users. Particularly look at joshkeller77 signature. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61558

Metro PCS GPS settings

I am grateful for shadow-tech to compile all this useful info. Unfortunately, I have Metro PCS on a HTC Vogue, and the settings for Metro PCS provided in Post #2 (provided by fred_dj) don't work for me.

I am not sure if I am supposed to change the PDE IP and PDE Port values in QPST/gpsone, and the values given in Post#2 for MetroPCS provide Server Ip and Server Port (which are in the registry). I changed them nevertheless and have all the settings done, to no avail. emartinez has a post here describing how he did it without changing any alltel settings, but I need more details. Anybody have it successfully running GPS on metroPCs on Mogul//Vogue? Please post the following if it works for you:
1. QPST - did you uncheck all boxes, or check them completely, or partially?
2. QPST - what settings are you using for PDE port, PDE IP, PDE transport and Position calculation.
3. Registry - what settings are you using (Alltel or Metro) based on the post #2 here? What is your server IP, GPS mode, and server port under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS ?
4. Location Setting under "Phone\menu\options...\Services\Location Setting" set to ON?
5. GPS settings under "start/settings/system/external gps" Program Tab: Com 4
Hardware Tab: gps hardare port= none, baudrate = 4800 baud
Access Tab: check 'manage gps automatically'. Did you leave these ON?

Thanks for the help.

Angry Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I had to do a hard reset on my PPC. When everything came back and I had returned my phone to its pre-reset state, I now can't get my gps to lock on any satellites at all.

I performed this post line by line and I still can't get my gps to lock onto any satellites. I am currently running WM 6.1 on an Alltel PPC 6800. I have performed these steps 3 times and verified the settings at least that many time maybe more.

This procedure worked like a champ before I had to reset my phone. Of all of the things I miss the most is my extremely fast and accurate gps.

Can someone help me solve this problem? It is quite annoying.

Well, after posting this, I went back and verified all of my settings one more time. I, of course, discovered that I had not turned on my location settting. Never mind this post.

ur makeing this harder then it is.

connect phone to pc, open qpst, goto gpsone tab. CLICK READ FROM PHONE. uncheck all the boxes,THEN RECHECK ALL THE BOXES, enter the pde ip, pde port, and other info into the gpsone, from post 2. WRITE TO PHONE. then copy the metro pcs cab file to ur phone from post 2, install, reboot. DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i first discoved this i only had the alltel info, thanks to the ppcgeeks community i have been compiling the pdew server info from many carriers. alltel pde servers are also great to fall back on if ur pde server fails but mertro pcs works on the control plane so u need to use metro pcs servers. like a verizon person can use alltel because they are both on user plane (nothing to do with the merger just an example), metro pcs is on control plane, so use the mertro pcs serverds

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

shadow-tech, this worked like a champ my last two phones but now on my third phone I'm having no luck. when I do step 9 " Click on the Device with the same COM port from as the 'HTC Diagnostic Interface' then click OK." the com port doesn't show. So when I go to manually enter it I get a "There was an error enabling COM15. The port may be working properly or may be busy. (214746259)" message. Have you or anyone else gotten this error?

Well as it's already been said; "
Well, after posting this, I went back and verified all of my settings one more time. I, of course, discovered that I had not turned on my location settting." How many times will we be see this statment? thanks everyone. Oh, drewcam888 it works on a 6900 too.

I believe these to be directions for the 6800 and not the 6900. Is that your problem?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Shadow --

I followed your instructions exactly -- and still no GPS.
I am with Verizon, 6900, NFS 6.5 V8 ROM.
radio 3.37.78

you say early in your instruction, that the GPS must be "enabled" .

how do I confirm this? could the GPS been disabled by verizon from a previous ROM?

I have had the phone for over a year, had the original VZW 6.0, then used the Official 6.1 upgrade from VZW. could this have crippled the GPS? I tried their VZ navigator (a bloated piece of crap) and it did work with the GPS. but that is the only way I have ever seen the GPS work.

Flash to a different radio? Alltel??
Any suggestions?

Thanks for all your work.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Yes you have to go back to the 6.0 then to custom because there 6.1 blocked the gps on your custom rom.

Drewcam888 --- THANKS
I thought something like this was necessary.

Where can I find a 6.0 ROM?
