Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
I am having the same issue. i install the wmodem driver then go into DIAG mode, ##3424# and it goes right in, but then I plug into computer and it says I am connecting a generic serial device and it cant find a driver for it. Since I dont know where the wmodemdriver is being installed I cant point to it. without that I cant even go into QPST and guess at a port to modify. Are there updated wmodem drivers? And for sure this wont work on a machine running Vista? I could have swore in your video you are running vista...thanks

If so I never could get the pc to see my phone correctly. What wound up working was flashing to stock and setting it up then flashing back to his ROM and apparently his ROM dont overwrite the settings cause GPS worked good after that. |

Sprint Touch with no data plan?
Will this work on a Sprint Touch with no data plan? I've been using a free off-line GPS map veiwing program called Terracrosser, but it takes 5-10 minutes to get a lock, and sometimes it loses a lock after a while and never comes back.
Does the AGPS use Sprint data plan to get the information about the satellites to pass on to the phone, or does it use some other means to do so? What are the settings for my phone to improve GPS reception without a data plan? Also, what settings do I need to input to my phone to get it to stop attempting to connect to Sprint's servers? The pop-up connection screens annoy the hell out of me when I try to use GPS. |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
It will not work without data. Agps uses a data connection

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
ok I own a Alltel, AUDIOVOX PPC6850AL Touch Pro, Unlocked, SSK 2.3, my PRI is 128, i've *228, 1 and 2, reset, location is on, quickgps is almanacing, GPS still will not work, and I"m stuck in EVDO mode, somehow I lost my revA access with the SSK. anyone have any suggestions? I can deal with the EVDO connection, but gotta have my GPS. My 6800 was allot easier to unlock it's GPS. maybe there are certain flips or switches I have to set in the HTC GPS tool. I see it's set to com4, the baud keeps defaulting to 57600, i know that com4 is right, that's what it says under the "external GPS" settings, same way my old 6800 was setup. i hit open port, and it starts polling, the text scrolls, but satellite used is locked at 0, so is satellite fixed 0. tried bing and gmaps, doesn't complain that it can't see the gps, just doesn't ever see any sat's i guess, just sits there searching.
