Thanks for another great post! I just enabled my gps on my 6800 a few days ago and then I dived into your improvements yesterday and so far it is excellent. As stated elsewhere 5-8 satellites inside the house!
Questions:
Are there any gps freeware that gives voice turn by turn?

If not freeware what is the best purchased software that I can put on my 6800 for voice turn by turn and what is the downside of this software if any?

iGo is probably the best nav software.

AmAze GPS is free and does turn by turn, it requires a data service tho and if you don't have EVDO it ties up your line like other data intensive apps do, however for free, it's pretty hard to beat, it will do satellite maps and street maps and a hybrid mode of the two that looks very cool.

Seems to work awesome outside... but here at work in our metal building, it cant get a fix still. Oh well, I dont expect that much!!

if u need gps to work indoors, for some reason, try: Position Calculation=PDE and GPSMode=4.

It will use a bit more data and power, not too much more.

WOW!!!!! Did all these steps and inside the house, 30 seconds later I got 9 sats and am looking at my house on Google maps satallite view looking at my car! Awesome to all those who made this possible!

I tried it and it still needed some work it seemed. Maybe the program has gotten better?

So... Like I said, I did this yestarday. It seems that if I want to use an app like the Holux GPS View, or TomTom, I need to activate the GPS with Google Maps first.

Any thoughts?

different programs request the gps data different ways. some programs do not request the data properly, therefor they need the gps to be 'primed'. this has always been an issue. but less of a problem with this fix. theres better apps for priming the gps then google.

also, did u see my previous post to you mangus?
