Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

So... Like I said, I did this yestarday. It seems that if I want to use an app like the Holux GPS View, or TomTom, I need to activate the GPS with Google Maps first.

Any thoughts?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

different programs request the gps data different ways. some programs do not request the data properly, therefor they need the gps to be 'primed'. this has always been an issue. but less of a problem with this fix. theres better apps for priming the gps then google.

also, did u see my previous post to you mangus?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I gave this a try tonight. Other than having to do the task manager/dmrouter option, it all went great! I'm getting 4 or 5 satellites locking on in under a minute.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Awesome Thanks for sharing, but still having issue with Google Map, but I'm using GPS Viewer in sec it picks up 4. I did this many time, I relize I was using the wrong code, but I remember I change my phone # last week online, Bell gave me the code online, that code worked, but Google Map still doesn't work, I wonder if Bell can block Google Map GPS feature.

Arrgh! This is so frustrating. I've been following the various threads on trying to upgrade my radio to 3.42.50 and have no luck at all.

How did you get it to upgrade on your Alltel 6800 with the Alltel 3.35 ROM?

I have the file on a 1GB, FAT32 formatted kingston 1GB microSD card. I tried the neuSPL-2.47 loader, but it just reboots, says 2.07 (not 2.47) blah blah blah, with the rainbow screen and Serial at the bottom. It never continues.

It *SEEMS* to do something, because the TITAIMG.nbh file is gone after that reboot. But, the radio is still 3.37.20.

Very frustrating.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Thanks Shadow and all contributing authors!

I'm on Alltel and have been fighting with the GPS feature on Google Maps. I tried the "easy way," tried upgrading to WM6.1 (working great and worth the time), nothing worked. I tried GPS Today and for whatever reason it was working but I'm sure most of you are like me and wont stop until you figure it out. So I found this article...went thru the steps and....imagine that...I'm sitting on my couch picking up 6+ satellites!

Thanks again!
