Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Hello Shadow-tech.
Really appreciate all your work on this. Seems i'm the only one who can't get it to work and I would really love to. Would you have a moment to quickly peek at my setting if I run thru it here? Must be missing one small thing. Always says "105KB. Seeking GPS satellite (0)..." blinking HTC 6800 Alltel Rom 3.35.671.9 Radio 3.37.20 GPS program port : COM4 GPS hardware port : none Baud rate: 4800 Phone - Location Settings 911 : ON Google Maps and GPS viewer are loaded. Ran these GPS files: 1_SP_AllowCe... 2_SdkCerts 3_SecurityOff 4_HTC_GPS_E... (all loaded fine) softboot Followed your QPST directions and all worked well. ##3424 dialing worked fine. Mine showed up on COM5. Applied the fix and put in Alltel numbers. 205.142.19.100, 8888, IP, mobile. Did the softboot. After completely following all instructions it didn't work first time so I went back into QPST and made sure changes were made and were on the phone...all these setting were in the phone when i checked. I then ran your "Shadow-Tech_AGPS_REG_Alltel.cab" on the phone and it said it installed fine. Did a soft boot. Went in with Taskmgr.exe into the reg just to make sure the .cab file worked and it showed GPS mode as 2, and IP as 205.142.19.100, etc. Tried Googlemaps and just got the "105KB. Seeking GPS satellite (0)..." again. Looked in GPS viewer and "Setup" tab is going nuts with the $GPGSV,1,1,0 numbers flashing but in "GPS Status" tab i got no satellites. Buga. It will find my location once in a while but this was happening before I applied the fix. Usually bombs out with the "No GPS satellites could be found message" Sorry for the length but i just wanted to let you know that I was pretty thorough in trying to follow your instructions. Thanks so much. Sman |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Not to mention the obvious but is the location setting set to ON and the COM is set to 4/4800. I had the location setting off when I downloaded the new ROM and had a hard time figuring out what was wrong. But GPS works fine.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Windows Vista users can perform all the steps in the first post. I just followed all the steps on my Vista computer and I had zero problems. On the step where you have to click on "My computer" the way you get to the device manager in Vista is by either clicking on "Computer", right click, then click properties, and in the system screen under tasks, click device manager. You can also click "Control Panel" then System and the same screen pulls up. The Tasks List is in the upper left hand corner.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Yes just follow the instructions in shadow-techs post. I am getting locks with amAze gps and Google maps in 2-3 seconds now and the only computer I have runs on Vista.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Shadow, i didn't want to post it before because i was not sure yet. I tested all other Carriers setting with metropcs and Finally i got the conclusion that this one is the one that works better with me:
( Extracted information from existing MOTO SLVR L7 on metropcs ) METROPCS GPS SETTINGS: Server IP: 198.17.1.0 Server Port: 3425 Position Calcultation: PDE ( Using mobile will work, but takes forever ) |
This post has been thanked 1 times. |
