In reality, I would get insurance for a phone if I didn't buy it from a third party (like ebay, facebook or something). But since i usually get my phones (or do a lot of mis haps that CS can't fix thanks to dated technology and rom upgrading practically every week) from verizon (and not through the vendors) i get insurance especially when I notice that my phone is going really slow or something after reinstalling the the stock roms. All in all, insurance does help at least me

It comes down to loss and water damage = $50 to replace your phone
if not you turn in your phone for referb and get a different one at no additional cost.

Well hell, I might try to get it swapped next week then. Thanks for the info.

Assuming I install the same rom, I can just use SPB backup to clone my current phone, right?

I got the low cost $4 insurance on my phone, with a $50 deductable. It is worth it for loss or breakage.

Re: Why do I pay sprint for insurance?!?

My phone took a little swim in the ocean last weekend and we have the insurance plan with sprint.

my new phone just came in and it looks like they dont even look over the phone for damage. the screen has some minor scratch's and the case looks like it had been dropped a few times. guess im going to take it into sprint tomorrow and tell them i want a new phone.

Yeah, I use sprite but I think SPB probably functions pretty similar. Just make sure you are on the same exact rom.

I have had only 1 refurb. I just tell them I want a new phone and they have been pretty accommodating. May just be because I have had so many problems. Just ask to talk to a supervisor if you dont get what you want.

Re: Why do I pay sprint for insurance?!?

Just call the ins again and tell them the phone you got is bad. I did this because of bad pixels and they sent me a new in box phone with all of the accessories.

good luck

Re: Why do I pay sprint for insurance?!?

I have to agree with eehrhard.....I am on my 4th mogul and before that I had a Treo.....always got replacements easily....and I also do not accept the refurbs....if I get a scratch i do not like I go get a a phone....u have to use the insurance wisely...I have had at least 20 new phones through this

Re: Why do I pay sprint for insurance?!?

And by the way they keep sending u new ones or I pick it up in the store and have all the accesories....dont need em all so I e-bay them....cuts down on the actual cost of insurance in the end
