Question Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

My wifi also doesnt work.. it never has.. It worked great on my 6700 and could use it even if i was outta service (or when my phone was shut off by sprint) as long as i was near a hotspot. On the 6800 ive noticed that it only "connects" if you have service and that the connection speed never seems to get faster than EVDO. I have also tried to connect to hotspots that have already worked after my service is suspended to see what happens and it only says "connecting" for a few seconds then switches to "disconnecting" immediatly then gos back to "connecting". this will just keep repeating till you manually turn off wifi or till the battery drains.. My thoughts are that sprint may have "locked" wifi on the 6800 because people wouldnt have to use sprints service to get online when they can get it for free from all the hotspots across the country, In my area (Mpls suburbs) there are entire towns covered with free wifi. As free wifi grows, ppl could just use the voice plan and save some money..or even use VIOP and not pay for a cell carrier at all.. I doubt sprint would want that....Just my guess... Im no expert but seems to make sence given the info ive read and sprints reputation for giving away stuff for free then realizing they can charge for it, then taking it away...(i used to tether my home PC with my old flip phone with a cable and installation CD bought from the sprint store when wireless web first came out.. it was free other than the $60 for the cable and CD Rom and didnt use any minuites.. then They stopped selling the web kits and started charging.. .. Seems to be the same stuff.. differant decade....... Any PPC Geeks out there that can confirm or disprove this??????

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

I just updated to the 3.56 Sprint ROM and installed WMWifiRouter. I have only tried connecting to my Dell notebook, which was successful. However, when I connect to the Sprint network using WMWifiRouter, the bandwidth is average 250K and sometimes higher. Has anyone achieved any better results?

I had problems with my wifi too sometimes. Soft resets didn't help. I unplug my router, and plug it back in. This always solved the problem.

Same problem here. Exactly. Although mine says "unavailable" after it tries to connect. If you remove the SSID from the phone settings will it see it again?

Personally, I think it is hardware issue from being dropped or lain on or otherwise banged on on my person.

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

well i think that is your device because i have my mogul for almost a year already and i havent had a problem connecting it to a WIFI... well the only solution is if you have insurance call them and tell them to send you a new phone but you will have to pay 50 for the new one... or if you have the insurance in your phone you can mest it up by trying to install an update and in the middle of the update unplug the usb cable from it, then take it to the sprint store to repair it and just tell them you where doing an update and the phone got mest up so they will take a look at it and they should give you a brand new phone... im telling you that because that happened to me well i didnt do it intensionatelly but they replace ma phone but i have the insurance on it

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

I've upgraded to the latest ROM (posted in July) and still have intermittent problems with WiFi. I've used WM Wifi in the past successfully so I was starting to think it might be the way the app unloads, but since so many others are having issues as well, it might be time to take the unit back to Sprint.
