The only time this doesn't work is if you want to reply to yourself.
When I forward with my Desktop Outlook or an exchange rule, which is the same email box on my Mogul, the txt msg still shows up as a Picture Mail from an unknown person/number, even if i send it as plain text, forcing me to open the web page to read the reply. If I let the msg come to my exchange box then i can read the plain txt without having to go to sprints web site. However, it appears that if you send an MMS to another Mogul user their replies will also come back as wanting you to open the web page.

Oh okay, I get it. Yeah, when you reply via Mogul, it will shoot an email to your exchange account, yeah? Thing is, exchange 2003 can't do HTML via mogul. I dunno about Exchange 2007, never used it. So it does everything in hyperlinks. Maybe that's what's happening? Sprint's reply interface automatically adds all of its HTML crap, even if plain text. I have forwarded set up on GMail, but leave the message on the GMail server. That way I can just read plain text messages when they are sent from other carriers, and GMail does HTML too.

I've got an Exchange 2007 box I can test with and set it up to receive HTML. Can't do HTML with Exchange 2003 I'll test it out tomorrow if I get time. I plan on doing a no2Chem 5055 upgrade tomorrow and will have to reconfig email accounts anyways.

BTW...just forwarded to my POP account with HTML support and I can read the message without going to the web page.

Re: nueMMS - beta test sprint workaround

OK, well I think I have my email set up as best as I can (GMail):

If the mail has an attachment, it gets forwarded to #@pm.sprint.com, marked as read and archived.
So if anybody replies with a picture message, gets forwarded to Sprint's PM and then archived.

I have several filters for each of the text messaging domains that nueMMS can send a picture mail to. Each gets forwarded to #@messaging.sprintpcs.com, and then archived.
This way if somebody replies to me via plaintext, it will come to my phone via SMS

If somebody replies via Sprint PM, I again forward it to #@messaging.sprintpcs.com (but don't archive it). Sprint's reply PM's to emails are in HTML, thus forwarding it to sprint's PM will cause it to either ignore it or it will be a bunch of hyperlinks. By forwarding it to messaging, I get a blank text message, at which point I know to log on to my GMail PM-dedicated account and check my new messages in HTML. This part's not ideal, but it works.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if Sprint user without a WM phone replies to a picture message, does that get sent in HTML, or plaintext email with attachment? Because if they reply with a picture and it is in attachment form, I'll get 1 text telling my that I have new PM, and 1 blank text (or will have whatever plaintext was included in the original PM). Oh well. I think I can live with this.

In case anybody is wondering wtf im talking about: I set up a dedicated GMail account to work with nueMMS. I have also forwarded messages and picture messages as you can see above so that if I send a MMS via nueMMS to my friend, if they want to hit "reply" and send me back a text/PM, the email will redirect it to one of the Sprint servers so that it shows up as a text message or a picture message on my phone. Normally a 'reply' will go back to the email account that the orignal message was sent from. In this way, nueMMS mimics actual MMS a little bit better.

Re: nueMMS - beta test sprint workaround

Has anyone had problems with pktpix using gmail recently? I can't seem to get it to work. It's a small .jpg sent to a sprint #@pktpix.com using my gmail account. It works when i use #@pm.sprint.com.

Doesn't look like pktpix is working right now. I've tried GMail and Exchange 2003 and neither of them get redirected to Sprint PM. Dunno if its limited to Sprint or not (no one to test with)
Hopefully it will be back soon.

Re: nueMMS - beta test sprint workaround

so I've been following this for a while, waited for new official rom, then waited for everything to settle down. I don't really send pix much, but would like to start. don't have a sms plan, cuz well it's worse than crackberry. why oh why do they keep re-inventing the wheel.

Qbunnie, why all the complicated rules. right now I have my gmail(s) fwd'd to my email@sprintpcs.com. gmail keeps in inbox and i have sprint set to "notify" my phone. this notification does not count as sms.

since I'm too lazy to figure out what everyones carrier is and set additional email address in contacts (they have real email addy's too!) I want to use nuemms to send regular text to people, so they start replying to my email, and I can keep those 2dimes in my pocket. does this work?

ps,, i like commas,,,

A little off topic for this thread, but why don't you just set your gmail account up as an IMAP account in Pocket Outlook? gmail supports IMAP now (they did this for the iPhonies). No forwarding, no muss, no fuss, just your mailbox in your pocket with folders synchronized to gmail all the time.

Re: nueMMS - beta test sprint workaround

I wonder if Sprint has determined pktpix to be a proprietary program and has blocked its use on unsupported devices?
