Re: nueMMS - beta test sprint workaround
OK, well I think I have my email set up as best as I can (GMail):
If the mail has an attachment, it gets forwarded to #@pm.sprint.com, marked as read and archived.
So if anybody replies with a picture message, gets forwarded to Sprint's PM and then archived.
I have several filters for each of the text messaging domains that nueMMS can send a picture mail to. Each gets forwarded to #@messaging.sprintpcs.com, and then archived.
This way if somebody replies to me via plaintext, it will come to my phone via SMS
If somebody replies via Sprint PM, I again forward it to #@messaging.sprintpcs.com (but don't archive it). Sprint's reply PM's to emails are in HTML, thus forwarding it to sprint's PM will cause it to either ignore it or it will be a bunch of hyperlinks. By forwarding it to messaging, I get a blank text message, at which point I know to log on to my GMail PM-dedicated account and check my new messages in HTML. This part's not ideal, but it works.
The only thing I'm not sure about is if Sprint user without a WM phone replies to a picture message, does that get sent in HTML, or plaintext email with attachment? Because if they reply with a picture and it is in attachment form, I'll get 1 text telling my that I have new PM, and 1 blank text (or will have whatever plaintext was included in the original PM). Oh well. I think I can live with this.
In case anybody is wondering wtf im talking about: I set up a dedicated GMail account to work with nueMMS. I have also forwarded messages and picture messages as you can see above so that if I send a MMS via nueMMS to my friend, if they want to hit "reply" and send me back a text/PM, the email will redirect it to one of the Sprint servers so that it shows up as a text message or a picture message on my phone. Normally a 'reply' will go back to the email account that the orignal message was sent from. In this way, nueMMS mimics actual MMS a little bit better.
