Sprint put out a working ROM?!#@$!

I have been running 1.47.01 with PRL 60611 on the 2.17 ROM with the Sprint Extended ROM updates for several days. I have not had to reset my phone nearly as mush as before (once I think). I am experiencing little to no issues with memory. Some old applications that check the RAM before running may not launch when the free RAM is low but I am not getting the "You have to close an application" dialog like in previous ROMs.

The OS seems faster (could be the reload but it seems to be persistent), the battery seems to last longer, and the radio does seem a little better. I work in an area where the signal is pretty low and I used to roam to other networks almost exclusively. I rarely see the triangle anymore and the battery is not draining nearly as fast. I know that the missing triangle is not an indication that I am not roaming, but the battery life is better so I am assuming something in the radio has changed.

All in all the ROM has been pretty good to me. I only hope that the GPS and Rev.A ROM is as good. A am hopeful that the new ROM upgrade method that Sprint seems to have embraced with HTC will get our devices updated more frequently and maybe last a little longer. I did wish that my 6700 would have gotten a GPS unlock. It seems to me that Sprint and HTC have earned a pat on the back. I hope you are all having a similar experience.

BTW the CooTek TouchPal keyboard that is free today on handango is worth a look! I love it so far. Use code 55938DAF to get it for free.

I was not aware that there was another PRL out there, as I just put this one on. And yes, I DID see the roaming triangle. Whats the differentce in the 20230 version?
Its my understanding 20230 is for devices without the roaming triangle (i used this series on my 6700 for whatever reason)

60611 normally would be for devices which supported the roaming triangle.

Someone else had simply mentioned that the icon was missing by design, clearly they were confusing the 2 different series PRL.

Thanks for the update.

could anyone teach me how to upgrade to prl 60611?

"Well Corolada hasn't posted it yet so I'll just go ahead and upload it here. Unzip this and put the .prl file on your mogul. You can then load it with ##PRL# but will need to know your MSL code."

i read this but i dont understand how to "load it with ##PRL#".
i put the file into my document folder but nothing happens and i really dont know what to do after.

Thank you very mcuh.

You go to your phone dialer and type in ##775# (775=PRL).

To install the PRL that has been copied to your device, you need to do more than just dial ##775# and enter your MSL code. I tried this which brought me to an EPST screen which displayed a PRL > Update PRL Item with no entry in the Setting column. First time, I just selected "OK" from the lower right menu. An EPST window opened and told me to "Press ok to reset the device." I assumed that this would update to the PRL that I had copied to the device. After the reset, the PRL had not changed. I tried again but this time, I selected the Update PRL item and chose "Edit" from the lower right Menu. This opened a new screen that prompted me to enter a "Value" in the empty field. I selected the "Browse" button which opened a new window. A list of the PRLs on the device was displayed. In my case there was only the one 60611 PRL. I assume if I had more than one, I could choose whichever one I wanted. Anyway, I selected 60611 and it broght me back to the screen with the "Value" field which was now filled in with the location of the PRL: \My Documents\60611.prl. I selected OK from the lower left. This took me back to the EPST>PRL screen and now the Setting column was filled in with the same: \My Documents\60611.prl. I selected OK from the Menu and was asked to confirm that I wanted to "Update the items?" I clicked "Yes." After a few moments, I was prompted to "Press ok to reset the device." This time the PRL was updated to the latest PRL.

Anyway, this is how it worked for me. Originally, I was frustrated by the overly simplistic instructions that didn't mention the additional steps. Probably, the details I just provided are available elsewhere and the poster didn't think it was necessary to provide them here. I'm curious if others are able to update the PRL without doing the extra steps?

I left out the details about first copying the unzipped PRL file to your device's My Documents folder. Hopefully, you can figure that out. ~Dave

My Mogul story...

got my Mogul on 12/3, and within 2 hours I had found this site and flashed the 2.17.651.0 ROM to it. Now I have this:

ROM date: 11/18/07
Radio version: 1.47.01
Protocol version: ACAAAAM-4070
Hardware version: 0003
PRL version: 60610
PRI version: 1.24_003
Browser version: MSIE 6.0

Bluetooth paired up to a Jabra BT350 just fine, paired up with ActiveSync 4.5 on an XP Pro SP2 machine. Calls sound good, volume is loud enough. Hooks up to my Linksys Wifi router fine. Installed Resco Explorer 2007, googlemaps, HandySwitcher task manager, updated version of the Windows Live Search that it came with (i think?) and iMov messenger for Yahoo and AIM chatting. Haven't had to reset it but a couple times so far. Not being sure exactly what a "memory leak" would be...can't really say anything along those lines, but I have on average 50% of the Program Memory available at all times, and only 17MB of Storage used. Battery life is good. Windows Media Player will play videos in Full Screen real good, Power Point will play Slide Shows real good. Outlook has 5 email accounts setup in it now.
Only issue I've got so far is with the Java app. The Esmertec shows a Jbed FastDAC Build ID:
20070828.4.1 on it. It will open ok, but when I try to do anything with it, the browser opens and I get an error:
there has been an application error. please contact your system administrator to report this error.
According to Sprint, their network has been running screwed all week, and they blame this error on that.
[added] Just realized there is a HTC today plugin that "should" work I guess. When I try to add it to the Today screen, it comes up with a blank page with Options and Items tabs in the Options for it. If I just leave it enabled, it has icons for the Power, Screen Rotation, Comm Manager, and Backlight settings, which I dont really need anyways with the Resco Today plugin. Not sure what else "may" be in the HTC today plugin...
Otherwise, I've had a good experience with the Mogul so far. After reading all 28 pages of this thread...think I'll try the Unlocker so I can try some of these bitchin custom ROM's these guys are putting out.

I'm also getting the 1012 error, but placing a phone call and multiple soft resets have done absolutely nothing to help me. Any other ideas?

For those that took HTC_CM_guardian.lnk out of the startup folder. i had various problems with connecting to the internet until i ran it. no more errors trying to connect to sprint's network.

I took it out because it was supposedly a ok item to take out of the startup folder. im leaving it there.
