Question Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul

I have it set up like that to share but it is still not working. When I do the test connection on the Xbox it says the network adapter is disconnected. I am going to try and get another crossover cable to see it that is the problem but if anyone has any suggestions to try I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

I do have the internet connection working when I am tying to link the xbox up so it is something in the sharing of the connection that I need help with.

I have checked the cable and it is not that so it must be within the settings of my connection or something.....

  1. On your laptop right click on the Dial-up entry you created for your phone and choose the "Properties" menu item.
  2. On the "Advanced" tab check the "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection." option in the "Internet Connection Sharing" section.
  3. Under the "Home networking connection:" section choose the network adapter that is connected to your XBox (Most likely labeled as "Local Area Connection").
  4. Ok everything
  5. Connect to the Internet on your laptop
  6. Boot-Up your XBox and you should be good to go.

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul

Just as I mentioned. It works.......but.....
I ran into a problem. You see I enabled Wmodem to work through the bluetooth, but I noticed that the speeds were slow.. very slow. So I disconnected from my PC running XP. Then I stopped Wmodem from launching. Now I want to change back to the normal USB cable and now it doesnt want to connect at all through my usb cable.

I simply went (on Wmodem) to change connection type to = USB
Went to Menu then selected START.
Got this error message stating to "Please end data call first!" only option is "OK" at the error message.

I figured its a fluke, so I restarted my Mogul. Went to reconnect for USB and this time no error appeared.

I connected my USB Cable to my PC and used My Wireless Modem link as a dial up, but now it gives me an error on my PC "error 692" basically telling me that the modem doesnt exist! It worked before I tried to connect via Bluetooth, but switching back to USB caused a headache.

Any thoughts as to why I can't switch between the two?

NOTE: I went as far as unintalling the CAB file and restarting, then reinstalling with the same outcome. Is there any files that are still loading that detect bluetooth?

Im stumped!! any help is appreciated. (by the way, Internet Sharing Connection still works via USB)

Thanks,
TWIN

u can simply open the conn mgr and end your data session. in order for the Wmodem application to inialize, you must first end you current data session. unlike ICS where you can have already established your internet connection. Of course soft reset also kills your data session so it will also fix the "please end data call"

One of many reason, i personally, use Internet Sharing

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul

Yep. I should have mentioned that I did go into Comm mgr, but the Data session wasnt on at all. Sooo, how can it still be on even if it doesnt show any data connectivity within the Comm Mgr? I also disabled my Bluetooth. So I reset the phone so that no connection is active, but only to find out that I go back to WModem and click on Menu->START to use via the USB connection and I get no errors. So I figured it would work now. I connect my USB cable and click on my Wireless Connection to dial #777 only to get this error. Some type of FLAG is telling it that the Data or Bluetooth connection is still active. Im guessing here.

Hey at least my ICS still works.

**UPDATE**
I noticed that on my XP computer, the DUN decided to activate the Bluetooth instead of the HTC USB Modem.
That problem was fixed.
NOW, the dial up states Error 633 - Modem already in use by another instance. So this tells me that it has to be some sort of flag that is still active. Maybe this gives some insight as to whats going on.

Like I said, using the bluetooth DUN still works, but its too slow. I just rather use the USB Cable for speed!! I just went back to ICS. But would love to make this work....... AGAIN!!

TWIN

  1. You must first have the MSL number for your phone. The MSL unlock code is used for programming your phone yourself, and is unique for every phone. You can retrieve the MSL for your phone by using the GetSPC application. It's essentially a keygen that calculates what the MSL should be from the hexadecimal ESN (case-sensitive). You can download it from HERE. Otherwise you can call Sprint technical support, tell them you're a developer, and you need the MSL number for your phone.
Hey TalynOne, The link for the GetSPC didn't work for me. Can you provide it again. (page cannot be found error)

Thanks,
